Does anyone still shoot 35mm??? I have been looking at attaining another digital camera for the sheer convenience of it all...but I still ABSOLUTELY LOVE my Rebel EOS!!! The settings and the feeling of being able to manipulate the outcome better.....

i have a more recent rebel eos that i use to shoot mostly black and white photos with. i bought it last year so it has a lot of automatic/manual settings. i also have a 35mm completely manual camera forgot the brand tho. its an old sony brand. i love shooting non-digital. its what i do the most. something about analog vs digital that always gets me. I still have my Pentax k1000, but I never use it...I've become too reliant upon being able to see the shot immediately and deleting the obvious mistakes, along with the fact that my "darkroom" is Photoshop lol...I like having total control over the shot, from conception to printing. And since I don't have an actual darkroom, I'd have to have someone else develop my film...so digital fits me much better.

I'm really old school and cling vehemently to old formats. I don't own a digital camera, but I have to admit I think about it every time I shell out $20 for a set of prints, with only a few keeper shots. I prefer the look of 35mm, but I'm irrationally biased, as I've grown up working with that medium.

i don't use photoshop much. i'm still in school and after i graduate the end of this month i will still have access for 1 year to the dark room and digital facilities. i use the digital lab to mostly scan negatives (4x5 and 35mm) and save 'em to my external harddrive for back up mostly. i enjoy the darkroom. there's gonna come a point where i won't have access to it unless i find some places that still rent out space or i make my own (which i plan to do eventually). i'm kind of a purist. i like dealing with what i already have instead of manipulating the photo alot, although i have done it before. i'm working on a side project of photos i took of the housing projects called stateway gardens in chicago before they were torn down and in the process of being torn down. i have interesting plans for those since they were mostly shot digital

Then I bought one lol Actually, I first saw the photos of professional photographers using digital cameras ($3,500-$4,000 digital cameras, but still)...and the work was outstanding. Figured it would be easier and cheaper than building my own darkroom lol. Then, I read an article about how some camera companies are discontinuing making 35mm cameras--it was becoming a Walkman while everyone was buying Discmans and iPods lol...so when I had some money, I dipped into cheapest end of the high-end digitals and bought a Sony for $1,000. My next camera, I'm going all-out and spending the the money for a complete outfit. And I SO want to see your photo project!! That sounds excellent (and not just because I'm from Chicago heh)...Make a thread when you have it done.

This has probably been asked a crap-load of times on the org, but do any of you recommend a CHEAP digital camera? I've never had one and honestly can't afford to spend more than $200 on one. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I still have my Canon A1 that I dusted off and used this summer just to see if it still worked. I've been shooting all digital for about 5 years now.

Still shoot 35mm, but I only have a low end digi. I invested to much in film to go changing and I like the feel and texture of "real" photos. I like to think of Digi as a different artform altogether. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

Alien Skin makes a great set of filters called Exposure, that replicates many brands of film and processing techniques.
http://www.alienskin.com/...mples.html I think digitals pros far outweigh it's cons. Its much more consistent than fumbling around with film, and chemistry, and even the bulbs in the enlarger. I pulled out my old N70 a while ago, and it felt like I was carrying a brick around. I cant believe I used to shoot with that thing, LOL.

Yes, I have a Canon Rebel. Takes really nice photos & I love using it.
But developing 23 shitty photos for one good one is seeming less & less worth it all the time. And worst, I feel I can't use it as much as I'd like because every picture costs money. My Legacy

Yes!
I have a Canon Sure Shot that I paid $180.00 for 8 years ago.
Still takes great pictures. I do want to get a digital camera, but I'm waiting until I can afford to spend big bucks on a good one. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
