Ever Been 2 A Concert Where Nothing Goes Right 4 The Artist?

How did he or she handle it? Who was it? How did the audience handle it?

I was at a Stevie Wonder concert in Las Vegas. The venue was new... The Rio. I believe it was their 1st concert production and it showed.

Stevie showed up late, about 2 hours late... this is not unusual. But that wasn't the problem. I think the audience expects that by now. I've seen him 5 times and he's always late.

Anyway... he started out with the song "Master Blaster (Jammin')" and it was the rendition u hear on the "Natural Wonder" Live cd...but his mic wasn't turned on! He had no idea, cuz he could hear everything from his ear monitors, and thought everything was going fine! He played the whole song, completely unaware that his voice was not coming thru 2 the audience. When he was done with the song, he stood up 2 hear what he expected as a fantastic response from a job well done...all he heard were folks telling him his mic was off..."we can't hear u" etc... He "looked" offstage 2 the left...as if 2 say motherfuckers!!! get this shit fixed now!

Someone came out with a new mic and the show resumed... he apologized very humbly and humorously...saying, "let me try that again!... Y'all mind if I do that again?" The crowd roared and he did the whole song over again!

But that was not all... during his rendition of "That Girl", he reached over 2 where his harmonica was supposed 2 b, (4 that killer solo) and found it not 2 b there... he felt around 4 it desperately until someone placed it in his hand...in doing so, nocked over his mic. Once again, a moment was "killed". He kept going tho, not missing a beat, but missing a harmonica solo.

Stevie overcame all his troubles that night and continued 2 per4m an incredible show. He received standing ovation after standing ovation per4ming well beyond 3 hours of hits and standouts.

I know someone was fired that night, or The Rio was fined or something... cuz somebody fucked up!

How 'bout u guys... any concert fuck ups 2 tell us about? How did the artist fare? Do tell...

I frequently go to these "Super Oldies" shows that come to my area. These concerts consist of a bunch of Old School R&B acts on the same bill and they're ALOT of fun.But sometimes things do go wrong, such as...

***Evelyn King---During her performance, she brings up a guy onstage to dance with her.I think the guy was drunk, because a few seconds after he gets up there,he falls down!! The audience was crackin' up and Evelyn joked "That's cool,we're Old School you know...we had breakdancing back then".

***Mary Jane Girls---In recent years, lead singer JoJo has been touring with two new girls.Apparently, these girls aren't "trained" very well.Right before "All Night Long",all three girls turn their backs to the audience and wait for the music to begin. One of the new girls (the blonde one) was unsure of what you do,and you could see her whispering to JoJo "Is where I should be?".

***Barbara Lewis---She's the lady who sings the kickass 60s hit "Hello Stanger",one of my all-time favorite songs. But,this one night, she was totally off, singing the lyrics too slowly. So,the music and the background singers were "ahead" of her.

I was at a music festival where a bunch of acts per4m at different times and this new country artist, Billy Dean was singing his hit "I Miss Billy The Kid"... he got all in2 the moment and raised both hands 2 clap and get the audience 2 clap along, and as he was chillin' in the moment, the strap broke from his guitar and his guitar fell 2 the ground.

He recovered quickly tho... and the show went on.

I was doing a show in my old blues group and someone off to stage left stepped on a mic cable which unplugged, it happened to be mine, so I went over to my lead guitarists mic and continued.

Later that night, I forgot how a verse began so the band played through shooting me dirty looks, I finally came in with the verse, but the last one instead of the first.

Later, I spilled a beer on one of my guitar effects pedals and shorted it...oops...

it was a bad night for me

thankfully we were so damn good!

I saw Brownstone in Sharon, PA. The place the concert was at looked like an old church or something. Anyhhow there was no air conditioning, the place was small, dark, and packed, and it was the middle of summer. It was a very raunchy show.
