Ex-Moderator | recurring characters in dreams? As some of you may know, I have a crazy dream life.
I've had recurring dreams before. As a child I had the exact same 2 nightmares off and on for years. I remember them vividly to this day. I've had many dreams for the last 5 years or so that all take place in the same setting (my grandmother's house). I had a recurring theme through dreams for a few years as well. All the dreams were very different, but the central activity - losing and looking for my shoes - was the same. Until one day I decided screw it! and walked barefoot into a shoe store and bought a kick ass new pair. The shoe dreams stopped after that. But now I have something new. A recurring character in my dreams. I realized this morning that he's shown up for a couple of weeks now. He's an angsty emo gay teenager. All black messy hair and skinny jeans. I guess I've sort of been mothering him. In my dream last night he came up to me crying cause he finally came out to his parents and it didn't go well at all. We hugged for a while and I agreed to go talk to them with him. It was very melo-dramatic. Not quite after school special, definitely not Lifetime movie, maybe more tv movie of the week. wtf? Does this happen to anyone else? Do you have fictional characters that pop up in your dreams over and over? |

Still have them to this day. One takes place in the 40's or 50's...and it's not so much a person that keeps showing up, but a bed with a feathered headboard...and lots and lots of mirrors and marble in the room. The next dream...is me driving down a highway..and I get in a horrible wreck and die. Like I said....I have had the exact same dreams since I was little. I have them at least 4-6 times a month. I've seriously only had two or three dreams I can remember. My head is dead as lead in bed. However, the second of those dreams I saw Earth being consumed by the sun 5 billion years in the future from the perception of a odd form where I was either a changeling colour or a smudge on the blueprinht of reality. I still had physical presense but thoughts were real and immediately impressionable upon reality, like some ultimate evolved form or newborn god where perception was canvas.
The third dream I remember came at a point in life where I felt my energy had peaked and my moment to shine had passed. I dreamed a dream where some organic orgasmic pumping red veined alien heart-like energy planet-like source was floating somewhere in the distant universe which I was connected to in some way and it was reminding me that for as long as I believed all my energy was transmitted from this heart planet thingy floating in the middle of infinity somewhere, I would have all the energy I ever needed. I just had to remmeber it existed. I think it might just exist because as soon as I recall that dream I was to run through a few countries without stopping.

Ever since I was little, I've had a dream about a guy in black. I've never seen his face, just his clothes. In my dream, Im laying on either a bed or a couch looking out of a window. Not sleep but just laying there. And all of a sudden, this guy comes out of nowhere and just stands in the corner of the room and stares at me.
I never look directly at him and we never talk. I just get real scared knowing he's there. And thats the end of the dream.

The only recurring dream for me lately has been about my dad. I've dreamt about him for over a week. The specifics are hazy but a lot of it has to do with me traveling with him. Not characters, but reoccurring themes. For the past 3 nights, I've had dreams involving me running away from people. Two of the three night, I was running in fear, but last night I was just trying to avoid a particular person because I didn't wanna deal with them. I've never been the type of person to apply dreams to my real life, but damn this is pretty weird.

Wow Carrie. Definite tv movie of the week. Very deep.
I used to have a recurring character dream. From the ages of 7-20. This large marshmallow person would run after me. The marshmallow person would catch me and give me a soft mushy hug. I was scared of the marshmallow person but he/she never wanted to hurt me. In college I asked my pschology professor about my dream. We gathered that the marshmallow person in my dream was my grandmother who passed away when I was 7. Her hugs were soft like "marshmallows" I was scared of her in my dreams because I never really dealt with her death because I was so young. My reoccuring dreams last years.
One of the funniest org related ones always involves Predominant and Natisse. In it, Predom, Nat, and I are always wanting to do something serious, like signup for fall classes, or applying for a drivers license, etc. etc. And in the dream Nat always runs off to go water skiing

I have themes and places that reoccur. I always dream about being late for a flight. I have this very often. I also have reoccuring dreams of certianplaces like apt buildings and hallways. I always have dreams that take place in the halls of schools. Christian Zombie Vampires

My reoccuring dreams lasts lears also. The first one ran for about 6 years and was centered around my high school and college experiences. The second one? Man, it's been going on for about 4 years and I dreamed it again last week. It involves my closest childhood friends and our experiences....I'll leave it at that.

I haven't had a dream like this for awhile but I used to have dreams where a man with disproportionately small hands and feet shows up and for whatever reason that scares me enough to wake me up.
