WOuld the premise of thew news report still be ok if it was centered around her using the racial slur and having to apologize for it, so long as they didn't simulate the scene where she says it? Or is it that the premise itself was unsettling enough that the joke wasn't funny. I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to figure out which part you're offended by. Just the use of the word, or the entire premise that the skit was built around the celebrity slipup in which the word was used? lawd, I just confused myself. Does anyone know how to ask that question better than I did? the premise is unsettling to me. ok, well, then to answer your original question, it's the premise that I found hilarious, and not the use of the word. Just like I found the cracka skit hilarious though I would never go around calling my white friends that.

Richards, Dog, that ugly ass radio host, i mean seriously, in the media we see it happen and it's like everyone's getting a pat on the back saying it's alright if we poke fun at it we see how insane the situation actually is, especially putting it into the porno perspective.. but to fill you in, i dont find the word nigger funny either. but the joke? it was funny, and i think it made the point very clear. maybe my view of these situations is slanted because i've been out of america for every single one but it doesn't seem like these people are getting a pat on the back. i'm not saying that's not the case, but out where i am all these people (micheal richards, dog, and imus) are being looked down upon and seen as disgraceful.

Blatant racism like that is just so raw, it seems a bit tacky and offensive to make fun of it like that. I think the onion missed the mark on that one and usually I'm such a fan of the onion.

In the beggining of the movie these cowboys are overseeing the work of migrant Chinese railroad workers. And in the openning scene one of the Chinese workers drops dead? The cowboy walks up and says, "Dock that Chink a days pay for nappin' on the job!" in a real rednecky accent? That shit was hilarious!!!! x 1 billion. But I woudln't want someone calling me chink. But the point to that skit was not to degrade Chinese people. So I, as an Asian, didn't take offense to it.

JasmineFire said: Imago said: Oh come on Jass. When Chris Rock told his "Cracka ass Cracka" joke, he was making fun of racism and the use of the word Cracka illustrated that. Were you offended by that? It wasn' to make fun of white people in his skit, but to point out the pointlessness of racism in his own family. Likewise the onion is not doing a hate-piece either. They just used a word your much more sensative too, and I'm not faulting you for that at all. But don't infer that I enjoy use of the word "nigger" for it's own sake as entertainment. This onion piece was not about that at all, as Byron and I have stated. He was talking about how old black men are the most racist men you will ever meet because they experienced some real racism. "none of this 'i can;t get a cab' bullshit. the black man was the cab!" I always felt that the point of that piece was to show that the pains of racism never go away and that the consequences of it are deeply imbedded in our society. Chris Rock presented it in a very funny way because that is what he does best but the point of the piece, if you really look at it, is nto funny at all and says a great deal about American society and how it has treated black people throughout its history. It's a funny piece about a very unfunny subject. In my experience, many white people feel like since slavery is done and the civil rights movement is over that there is no more racism in the world and that is so not the case. Just look at the old black man at your job as an example. As far as me being too sensivite to the word nigger...sorry man, there is no such thing. You can never be too sensitive to such a word, only too insensitive. This is why I say that society is fucked-up. A sodomized chain of communities in this world to make up the trajectory within this forceably-entered society. And, you know what, sadly, it's what makes the world of comedy and comedians/comediennes go-round. Yeah, tell me it isn't a coincedence or ironic that the utmost-praised people in that form of art and entertainment are the ones of which set the basis for their routine to be mostly about the implicit/explicit segregation within the American Community (Or any other vicinity breached with tension between two dynamic forms of human flesh.). Tell me that isn't a coincedence or ironic. Some of us will be sensitive about the word "Nigger" (Some would ignorantly go mad when hearing the word "Niggardly" which, unless one has a complex of his/herself, that word would not apply to them.) at one minute, but'll hear a joke coming "FROM" a "White Guy" that uses the word and laugh. "AMAZING"!!!! I've noticed these scenarios are rationed, "Infinite:100!" I've heard Black People around me say, "It's all about the context and tone. Like, a White Guy can come up to me an say, "What up mah Nigga!?!" and I'll be alright wit' it. But, if that same White Guy came up to me and said, "You ain't nuttin' but a lazy, ugly, char-baby, bastard of a.....NIGGER!!!!", then it's killing time for dat azz!" This is how society has me, mentally. Just like the rest are. Like the plan was molded out to be by "The Otha Man!" and not "The Brotha Man". I'm fucked-up in the head ("OR" so, I am to believe.) because my standards allow me to consent the use of such a harsh, racial epithet. And, the thing that more appalling about that is.....the fact that I.....sort of like it like that. Richard Pryor (In his best years. In the prime of his career, around the time when "Wanted! Live in Conert" was recorded and released.) held no boundaries about his feelings. Had a White Wife, most of his life. Left and right, snatching up Lily Whites, as you might call them (If you are an "Elderly Black Man" from "The South".). But, at the same time, he would be the utmost honest African-American/Black Man you have ever known. You couldn't call him an "Uncle Tom" or "Snobby Traitor To His Originators of Style". He was Black, at its Blackest. Here's what I have to say about it. I'm paranoid as it is. So, I won't know how to generalize if I were to say to myself that, "SUCH-AND-SUCH IS OFF-LIMITS!!!!" That would just rack my brain, then. I "AM" insulted by a particular use of the word. Like, if it is hateful, then I am quite pissed. If it is used against me by an enemy, I will be pissed. It's a screwy whirled, but; what can I say. I've been trapped in it for eighteen years, now. And, now; because I refuse to walk and wonder about words like "NIGGER", I will forever hold a sense of humour that plagues, quite frankly a "HUMAN RACE!!!" So be it. This world is "WAAAAY" too complex for an individual like me to have to go and try to make sense out of some flimsy, lousy increment that has a horrible past, and a not-so-prospective future outlook. Young yet.....
