Oh, just throw in an Asian substitute then lol

It's not about the n-word at all. It's a parody of the string of scandals in the media with regards to celebrity slipups and their lame apologies.

They just took it and applied it to porn, and that's where the joke is at. Your inference that I think it's funny to just go around spurting that word has no basis.

If you don't get the joke, don't go blaming me for being something I'm not.

then why did they use the word nigger and not something else, like drunk driving?

racism is racism and i call it how i see it.

Oh come on Jass. When Chris Rock told his "Cracka ass Cracka" joke, he was making fun of racism and the use of the word Cracka illustrated that.

Were you offended by that?

It wasn' to make fun of white people in his skit, but to point out the pointlessness of racism in his own family.

Likewise the onion is not doing a hate-piece either. They just used a word your much more sensative too, and I'm not faulting you for that at all.

But don't infer that I enjoy use of the word "nigger" for it's own sake as entertainment. This onion piece was not about that at all, as Byron and I have stated.

It's not about the "N" word...it's a sarcastic take on the recent rush of celebrities caught uttering offensive insults seemingly out of the blue (Micheal Richards, Isiah Washington, etc, etc.), the whole reaction (or overreaction, depending upon one's viewpoint) by the media and fans, and the celebrities' insanely weak and lame "apologies" that are issued afterwards. The Onion just applied this template to the porn industry, and "reported" on it as if it were a serious story lol...

So we get offended perverts, adult shop owners who feel the word is far more obscene than the debauchery that's taking place on all the hundreds of other DVDs being sold, and Jennica's hilarious apology ("I hope African Americans continue to fuck me in the future" lol )...

um...porn is far less offensive than the word nigger and carries far less weight.

People who watch porn and adult film stars are far from perverts and I don't see how their reaction to racism should be any different than anybody elses. So just because you own an adult film shop you shouldn't be offended when someone calls a black man a nigger? Sorry no. There is no overreaction to the use of this word. The use of this word has a long and painful history in America and those who use it, whether it is done seriously, in jest, or while one is being "fucked hard" should be punished. end of story.

sorry, "nigger" isn't funny. even if the onion is the one poking fun.

1) To some it is, to some it isn't...but it was more a comment on using an industry that borders on obscene to talk about something obscene...but in a very witty way.

2) I didn't say people who watch porn are perverts...I said the people they "interviewed" were lol...They didn't interview an accountant, they interviewed a "masturbator" lol...(yes, that was the label they gave the guy who talked crudely about having seen Jennica get, um, "serviced" in a variety of ways).

3) The video is NOT about how funny it was that a black man was called a nigger. It was COMPLETELY a send-up on all the celebrities showing their true colors, saying something offensive, and the culture of apology and "gotcha" that has grown from it. If you can only see it in such simplistic terms, and think the only reason anyone is laughing is because the word "nigger" was used, you'll never get the point. But trust me, that's not the basis of the humor.

Exactly. One way to take this, though is that, "Nigger" is a fucking word! No doubt, a word with history. But, still, it is a word, nonetheless. I mean, really. How many words can one come up with from within the dictionary that once posed as a threat or element of terminological disorderlines of offense? A bunch, I'm sure. Racism still exists. But, I laughed at it because we're all a bunch of hypocrites. Some of us will disregard the American Indian or the Jewish/Judaic Peoples that suffered from the Holocaust. I'm not saying that we should shut the fuck up and take it up the ass. I'm just saying that society was fucked-up, is fucked-up, and has been fucked-up since the beginning of times. Some of our humor is broad and "NEARLY" boundariless. Others are the total opposite or in-between.

This is some of the few reasons why I'm not insulted by the use of the word because (Even though these terminological semantics of common linguistics within the European/American Vicinities are not proper epithets.....if there ever was such a thing.) there is always other things that can be said. As Samuel L. Jackson has once said, "Niggers/Niggas can be of "ANY" race/ethnicity!" That's kind of how I see it. The Michael Richards Situation, for me, was actually quite ridiculously humorous. Seeing the man's meltdown was funny....."AS HELL!!!" Ya' un'stan?!?

i actually had the exact opposite reaction to the micheal richards situation.

i know lots of people who feel like they can use the word nigger to describe any kind of person or to only describe "bad black people" but that's not the point. the word was created to describe black people and it is STILL used to describe black people. And it's not some nice description either...it's a reminder that, in the minds of many, black people are the lowest of the low and that is just sickening to me.

Too many people brush off the importance of this word and what it means. As far as the Holocaust and Jewish people are concerned...what world do you live in? Racial injustices and slurs against Jewish people usually don't happen, at least where I'm at they don't, and when they do, you'd think the world was coming to an end. And really, that's how it should be. Racist attitudes should not be encouraged, regardless of the race in question.

With the "Kramer" meltdown so fresh in everyone's mind, I'm not surprised at all that they did...and would it be better if they had used some other slur? Would it have succeeded as well if they had not used an ethnic or racial slur, and instead used some insult meaning "fat" or "stupid" or whatever? I doubt it. Porn is a pretty intense industry in terms of containing things people consider offensive...they needed something just as intense to make the humor work.

He was talking about how old black men are the most racist men you will ever meet because they experienced some real racism. "none of this 'i can;t get a cab' bullshit. the black man was the cab!"

I always felt that the point of that piece was to show that the pains of racism never go away and that the consequences of it are deeply imbedded in our society. Chris Rock presented it in a very funny way because that is what he does best but the point of the piece, if you really look at it, is nto funny at all and says a great deal about American society and how it has treated black people throughout its history. It's a funny piece about a very unfunny subject.

In my experience, many white people feel like since slavery is done and the civil rights movement is over that there is no more racism in the world and that is so not the case. Just look at the old black man at your job as an example.

As far as me being too sensivite to the word nigger...sorry man, there is no such thing. You can never be too sensitive to such a word, only too insensitive.

ok, I just want to make sure I get this.

WOuld the premise of thew news report still be ok if it was centered around her using the racial slur and having to apologize for it, so long as they didn't simulate the scene where she says it?

Or is it that the premise itself was unsettling enough that the joke wasn't funny.

I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to figure out which part you're offended by. Just the use of the word, or the entire premise that the skit was built around the celebrity slipup in which the word was used?

i don't know what you find funny. i could care less what the joke was about. i just don't think they needed to use to word nigger to illustrate their point.

i think they did.
i dont think the point would of been illustrated in any other form that would actaully get the point across.
Richards, Dog, that ugly ass radio host, i mean seriously, in the media we see it happen and it's like everyone's getting a pat on the back saying it's alright
if we poke fun at it we see how insane the situation actually is, especially putting it into the porno perspective..

but to fill you in, i dont find the word nigger funny either. but the joke? it was funny, and i think it made the point very clear.
