Soccer Champions!!!!! I coached two youth soccer teams this year (under 8 girls and under 10 girls) and yesterday both of my teams won their year end tournament championships!!!!
I am so proud of all of them. They have worked so hard since we started practice early last July, and it finally paid off this weekend. They both played 4 games over two days (yes I coached 8 games over the weekend and I can barley talk today). My under 10 team, Lady Chivas entered the championship game yesterday with the second highest point total (giving up only one goal all tournament) and we beat our main rival 1 - 0 in the championship game with my middle daughter getting the assist on the only goal. They finished the year with an overall 9 - 3 - 2 record ( 3 - 1 in the tournament). My under 8 team, Cheetah Girls entered the championship game with the most points and we won the championship game 4 - 1 with my youngest daughter scoring the first goal of the game (7th on the year for her)! They finished the year with an overall 13 - 1 record ( 4 - 0 in the tournament)! I didn't have any time to take pictures but I know many of my parents did. As soon/if I get them, I will post some. Coaching youth soccer is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. To see these young girls progress and grow in their skill and confidence. To help mentor them and teach them the value of hard work, discipline, teamwork, good sportsmanship. To see the joy on their faces when they do something they never thought they could do and when they do things like win the tournament championship. Just to see the smiles on their faces as they are out there playing and learning is priceless!!!!! Yes I am very proud of them. "Always blessings, never losses......"

I didn't know they play tournaments when they're that little. So cute. I just hope the losing teams don't cry all night. It must be hard to handle a loss at that age. | |

Actually they handle losses better than one would think. But either way it is a learning process for them. Losing is hard, but an important lession in life. You are not going to win or succeed at every single thing you do/try in life....but no matter what, you can always learn, have fun and get better. I remember playing a lot of baseball when I was younger. I won and lost plenty of games. It does hurt when you lose. But it makes you a stronger and more complete person. I never really paid too much attention to Soccer. Now I know most of the aspects/strategies of the game and I am pleasantly surprised as to how much fun youth soccer is to coach and watch. For my U8 team I suggested either Little Chivas or Chivitas but they voted for and chose Cheetah Girls. "Always blessings, never losses......"
