I'm going to teach in South Korea!! So it's all starting to take shape now. I'm going to teach in South Korea for a year. All being well in Seoul. I got a call yesterday saying that they should have a position for me as early as next week. This would be to start even as early as late January. Naturally I'm nervous but the excitement far out ways it. Anyone been to Korea? Any tips? There's Joy In Expatriation.

Yes they do aswell as return flights. I only have to pay for my bills. You get page a decent wage aswell working 30 hours a week. Apparently you can save half your wage each month even if you eat out every night. There's Joy In Expatriation.

I know a guy who is there right now working as a teacher. He's an American and used to work in Japan before he moved to Korea so he might have a slightly different perspective on the experience, but if you have any questions I could forward them to him.

teach what? English?
Be careful what you get yourself into. Try not to leave anyone stranded. Sounds great though, especially if you can save money while you're there. The Korean language is probably very difficult though. I hope you keep posting on the org., and pictures would be great too! Good luck!! small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

Well it hasn't been easy as I thought but I've now finally landed a position! I was interviewed succesfully albeit outside a 24/7 Spar on my mobile and they think I'm Scottish for some reason! I'm going to be starting late February teaching kindergarten and middle years children. I will be there for a year at the very least.

Kindergarten? Gosh, you're going to be exhausted! I taught at a high school during my time in Japan, except for one day when I taught at a kindergarten. The little ones stared at me with big eyes for maybe ten seconds but after that their shyness was totally gone. I tried to play different games with them but it was hard since I constantly had a kid on my back, two hanging from my arms and at least one wrapped around my legs.

As I have been travelling back and forth from Korea since 2000, and was my kinda second home, I'm sure I can give you all the tips you need.. [Edited 12/14/07 12:24pm] I will love you forever and you will never be forgotten - L.A.F.
