I Have an iPod Problem

My 2005 iPod Nano has a screwy battery. I'll charge it fully. Sometimes it will play for hours, but sometimes it tells me the battery is out of juice. But I know it isn't!

Soemtimes, if I let it collect its thoughts after turning off, it will remember that it is, in fact, fully charged.

Is this common to 2005 iPod Nanos? Is it fixable? Are the new iPods more reliable?

In my iPod's defense, it didn't start doing this until about a year ago.

Also, don't flame me because I have an iPod and you have some Euro player that shreds iPods to pieces. I'm old and I like my iPod.

Does no one care about my iPod problem?

Or do none of you have iPods and are politely refraining from posting?

I have found solace and support at the apple support forums.

I guess I'll have to go there. It's just that everyone was so excited when I bought my iMac. I thought for sure I would get some commisseration about my iPod.

I have an ancient iPod, 20 gigs. Everytime I try to download stuff my computer crashes.

I think that when you start having issues with batteries on an iPod, you have to replace it. Yours is fairly new though, right? A year?

I think I bought it in May 2005, so it's about 2 1/2 years old. I really want a new one and am trying to figure out if I should get an iPhone or just the iTouch.

Really? That's interesting. Does that do something good to the battery? Or whatever it is that reads the battery life?

Batteries can "memory" and it messes them up..this is designed to stop that

Or just buy a new battery & install it yourself. It's super easy, I did my own & it was only $15. It doesn't have the life they advertise (I seem to have to charge it every 3 days or so) but my original battery wouldn't hold a charge at all shrug

I have the same one. Luckily, I extended the warrenty. I had one replaced as it skipped, and wouldn't forward to the next song, the replacement they gave me started having the problems you described after 2 months. I took it to the Apple store, and I'm getting another replacement.
