Flowers -- yay or nay? (Slight update)

OK, so here's the deal: Between my schedule and a certain young lady's schedule, we've not been able to hang since our first date a few weeks ago. She's asked me to dinner this week, and I'm thinking about bringing flowers.

But I don't know how women read flowers on a second date. Do you think it's a bit much, too much too soon? Or do you think they're always a good gesture? I was going to shoot for something beyond the basic red, longstem variety. Some thought's going into this: some irises or stargazer lilies, etc. Or some variegated roses, if I can get my hand on 'em... hmmm

Talk to me, Org ladies. What do you think?

Org burped biggrin

If the dinner is at her place you could bring Flowers as she is making a statement by inviting u in2 her home. But I'd save it for the 3rd or 4th date.

If the dinner is at a resturant its way too soon

Flowers are ALWAYS a good thing! Roses are a wonderful flower to give, but I would stay away from red ones at first...stick with other colors at first. Pink, white, or even yellow. Yellow is supposed to represent friendship. biggrin

Yeah, I'm feeling the non-red roses, too. But not yellow. . lol

But, it still might be too soon.

WillyWonka

If you know what she is preparing for dinner, perhaps bring a bouquet of flowers associated with the particular cuisine being served: Italian - sunflowers or sweet pea; French - lavender or violets; Mexican - plumeria; etc.

The thought and sentiment behind such a gesture is obvious, but without being too...intense...too soon.

If that's what you wanna do, I say go for it. Anything that's genuine is nice...and if it's genuine, she'll know and appreciate it I'm sure.

But I personally think flowers are terribly cliched and unoriginal.

Well I don't exactly know what flower goes with what food like Mr.Willy Wonka lol but my sister once met a guy that took her out on the first date and everytime they stopped he bought her a bouquet of flowers!

She didn't even like him that much but she thought it was very sweet and a smooth move, so did I!

I'm not telling u to do that though, i'm just saying I think flowers are always beautiful at any given time! cool

You totally didn't put an ounce of thought into this did you?

Thanks for the gesture though.
I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

Ditto. Every girl loves flowers. It doesn't matter if it's the first date, second date or tenth date. It's a sweet gesture and we love it.
