Edward Scissorhands (A) - What can I say? I love this movie! Especially around this time of the year. Classic!

That reminds me, I have to start watching my holiday films again before I run out of time. It isn't quite the same watching them in the summer. confused

...I haven't seen a current movie in a while! The last one was "I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry" boxed

Why did you see that movie? neutral

Same here! I actually don't like the whole holiday season, but I like those kinds of dark wintery movies. Love Batman Returns, not a big fan of Eyes Wide Shut and I haven't heard of the other 2 but I'm joting them down...

In Morvern Callar Samantha Morton wakes up on Christmas morning to find her live in boyfriend has committed suicide. She takes his unpublished novel and submits it to a publishing company under her own name.

Nadja is a rather blah vampire film, but I like the fact that it's shot in black and white in modern day New York City during the holidays.

Those are the only ones I own along with Edward Scissorhands. It's hard to find a good bleak holiday film.

'Morvern Callar' the film is nothing compared to the novel. It remains one of my favourites to this day. The follow up 'These Demented Lands' and 'The Sopranos' are great too by Alan Warner.

Control; an whooping 4,5 too. Blew me away.
Stardust; an entertaining 3, if only for DeNiro's dress.
The Nightmare Before Christmas; a spectacular 4, never dulls.

Checking off a few more films from last year's Oscar-nominated list:

The Good German star star 1/2 - Well-shot noir thriller that is undermined by bad acting.

The Good Shepherd star star star - Interesting story about the beginning of the CIA, but a little too long and tedious.

Click star 1/2 - I thought this would be a dumb movie and it was. 1.5 stars for the makeup and effects and positive message, but other than that, this is garbage.

Beowolf - finally caved in and saw it, couldn't see it in 3d tho so it lacked that, plus Ray Winstones 'show me your MONSTER' accent made me laugh.

Harry Potter and The Order Of Phoenix - much darker than any of the others but didn't seem to have much of a plot really.

The Curse Of The Golden Flower - IMO the weakest out of hero, flying daggers and this. More like a soap opera for much of the film, the cinematography and acting was as good as the other two but it didn't seem to have the 'magic' or drama.
It's a mess, ain't it, sheriff?

This movie is all about the costumes--specifically the impressive cleavage that was given to all the women.
