I saw him at a club last May he was genius. He makes up most of his material on the spot and it all kills. It's basically a conversation with the audience all night. worship

Exactly, that's what makes him a real comedy genius. The best there is today, I'd say. And like any other truly great artist he makes it seem so...effortless.

I've never seen him, but I think stream of conciousness it's the only way to go if you're doig stand-up. I'm thinking of doing it myself soon actually. If I die on my arse at least I'll know I'm shit.

I'd be interested in seeing you perform, and I think you'd do well.

I'd be curious to see how you'd handle the balance between serious and funny though. Dave Chappelle has a lot of outrageous material but then injects just enough seriousness to keep it together, and that bit of seriousness gets doubly appreciated since it's used so well. Others, like George Carlin for example, is basically dead serious the whole time but glosses it over with a surface of funny. It's rewarding, but doesn't always generate as many laughs. Then there are those that are never serious (in which case it's just empty fluff) etc etc.

What do you think your style would be in that regard?

I really have no idea. well. It'll probably involve uncomfortable cathathris and self-righteous indignation. The blatant obviousness of mainstream culture catering for a gauge equlibrium of dumb dictated by a faceless condesceding tiny minority of fascist mind demons is passe' now. I think the target of any comedian's ire should be him/herself how how you judge your sanity in a world of differeing perceptions of what is normal and/or real. Attack yourself before anyone else can. Like that Eminem film.
