As my Sports and Entertainment Law professor said last semester, when was the last time you saw a guy with a hairy chest on the cover of Men's Health magazine?

I wonder why Prince never pierced his nipples or belly button? He used to like to show off his torso so much by going bare chested. He has stopped waxing the hair from his chest.

Afterwards I got dressed, talked with the piercer about aftercare instructions, and paid. The total cost was about $68, and I tipped the piercer an additional $10.

68 bucks? My god, why was it so cheap?

I hate living here. Everything is so damn expensive.

But I'm a sucker for piercings & tattoos... drool

(BTW, I was told to use sea salt + antibacterial soap for my rook, but was told to NOT use the soap and ONLY sea salt for my nostril. The people here advocate against the soap, as it kills the germs but also kills newly developed skin cells - one step forward and two steps back, I guess! I am not sure, to be honest - maybe it's all a matter of personal opinion...?)

Fab!

But I'm biased, being very fond of the scrawny pale pierced type. I've been able to "convince" (it was actually his idea, but I encouraged it) my boi to get inked (once), but no piercings, to my dissapointment. I think nipple shields look very cool.

I would like to get mine done, but I'm 'fraid. I have a largish tattoo around my forearm, and was able to tolerate that multiple-hour-pain-process pretty well, but the only "exotic" piercing I have is my tragus, which aint that exotic, and didn't really hurt at all. . .what I'm afraid of is that I would get one nipple done, and then chicken out and not get the other, which would be laaa-a-aaame.

Anyway. Looks great. Update us on the healing in a month, eh?

Doves,
Mel!ssa

Not to try and steal the spotlight from Matt's nipples, but my cochlear implant processor is getting rave reviews on my local scene, especially leather bars. They think the coil is actually drilled to my skull, and the S scar next to it is only further proof of my butchiness. I'm almost sorry I let them take out the staples. They would have been a nice touch on Halloween.

Oh well...

As I have said my parents own a piercing shop and they tell the nose people (all customers actually) just to use soap and water. So basically they think it's a good idea to use soap and water twice a day.

They definately steer people away from using the alcohol based products one picks up at the mall ear piercing places for the reasons you mentioned about killing the germs.

PS Matt it looks great. I'v been told by a lot of people at my parents shop that nipple piercings feel REAL good, but my body tends to reject piercings sad

I've seen people who've had their ears pierced and their body rejects the piercing. They can develop a large growth on their called keloid scars when that happens. I know a guy who has a keloid behind his ear that is almost the size of a golf ball.

My ears have been pierced since I was 5 years old. I've seen people with pierced ears who have multiple holes in each ear, but I have 1 hole in each ear and that's enough for me smile

The rings were $16 each, plus tax. The first piercing was $25, and the second was $10. I guess they give a discount for multiple piercings.

I was surprised too--I was expecting to pay something like $100. Believe me, when it comes to having minor acts of surgery done, I'm not going to shop by price--Metamorphosis is considered one of the best (if not the best) body piercing studio in the city.

One interesting thing they did was pierce my nipples at 16 gauge. Back in the "olden days," the conventional wisdom was never to do any piercings below the neck at a size smaller than 14 gauge. But they've found that for men with small nipples (e.g., me), it's often better to pierce through the base of the nipple at 16 gauge and stretch them to 14 gauge once they're healed. Why? Because if they pierce at 14 gauge, they often have to go behind the nipple and through the areola.

So, got your webcam yet? smile

O.K. Matt thanks for the info. I myself have 6 tatoos and I had my nose and tongue pierced. I don't like it on me,but I don't have a problem with somebody else doing it. I am gonna remove 2 of mine. Never get your boyfriends name put on your body because when you break-up it's still there and you gotta be reminded and so now I cover it with something else. I always thought Prince wouldn't want his Girl having his name on her body otherwise his name would be near my Pussy for sure. So that's the only reason it isn't there. I always Knew he wouldn't dig Tatoos on girls. He likes his girls really Feminine and Girly. Mayte,Shelia,Carmen,Mani nobody has a Tatoo. He doesn't like em. And see I was right. Yes,Prince is that Silver-Haired Debonair type and he's Old Fashioned and I love it. He's better than anybody New and Younger out there today.

Well, I went ahead and got my nipples pierced. (One of them was actually a re-pierce--I'd had it done in 1995 and removed it in 1997.) Here's a picture for your enjoyment (or disgust):

Hmmm... let's see. Maybe my other earlobe? Or turn my navel piercing into a multiple-navel project? Unfortunately my choices are limited because of my chosen profession. sad

I have the "must maintain responsible outward persona" problem too. Can't be seen to have shit loads of metal in your face. To combat this You have to go places that are rarely seen. I always felt that nipple piercing was for big-breasted ladies. With nipples, earrings, tongues and navels out of the frame it just left one place (IMHO). For all of you who love the kick of a new piercing I strongly recommend it. The most painful shit in the world but the buzz lasts forever.

Sorry, can’t post a picture eyepop

That's amazing! I would have thought around $100, too... and the fact that you had it done at a really reputable place makes it even better.

My nostril cost me $57, plus a $5 tip (yeah I know I'm cheap... oh well). The piercing itself was thirtysomething and the stud was twentysomething. I sure got ripped off there, but the guy who owns Staircase (and helped me) makes all of the jewelry himself... so I guess that accounts for its priciness.

A lot of people are very gung-ho for the nipple piercings, which makes me seriously consider getting it done. I've decided the nose will be my one and only facial piercing. I can't pull off any more, it'll just look wrong.

No webcam yet... but soon! Very soon! wink

Nat I'm so glad you went with the nostril piercing. Eyebrow piercings annoy me now, they just don't look good. Nose rings are nice though, I can't pull it off but wish I could. Can't wait to see the pic!

And as far as the nipples, go for it. They don't hurt too bad. The worst part (well for me) was the after care. It can be a little painful but wtf if you can get something pierced you can deal with the healing. Save your money and do it!

Carrie, thanks for the words of encouragement! Everyone I've met likes the nose piercing on me, and a lot of people don't even say anything because they don't notice it - apparently it looks very 'natural' on me. For that, I'm grateful! biggrin

The aftercare of the nipples scares the bejesus out of me. I'll need to wait a year to get it done... the nose was a birthday present to myself this year, in two years I'll get a tattoo, so next year is empty!

I tend to plan any body mod a few months in advance, to make sure I really want it... e.g. I'll be getting a P tattoo when I'm 25. Plenty of time to change my mind!

matt - how are your nips feeling today? Very sore?
