Interesting stuff you've learnt from music lyrics

Have you learnt something interesting from music lyrics? Im currently listening to 'Buckingham Palace' by Canibus. Did you know that the brain remains constant for 10 seconds when severed from the human body?! Horrific eh?!

WTF is Wernicke's area too?! It sounds like a dodgy US sitcom.

The brain is a fascinating organ. I would love to know what's stored in mine. Sometimes I'll see something and it will trigger a memory that I have from 20 years ago. Something I would never have thought about otherwise. I don't know what I learn from music lyrics, but I'm always amazed at how we remember them 20, 30, and 40 years. Longer for some I'm sure.

I've gone looking up words I hadn't heard beforehand, after hearing them in song lyrics. Like "desideratum" (Fiona Apple). Other than that, I wouldn't say I've learned any new facts.

Wernicke's area is the part of the brain associating with language: understanding spoken language and written language.. geek

I remember reading that the French used to catch heads right off the guillotine and mock the severed head. The head could see them, hear them and understand them, but couldn't respond.

The French are weird. I'm going to 3121.com right now and vote against Paris.

Actually I heard that was up to 30 seconds sometimes when people became decapitated. You can still see the surprised look and pain on their faces while they look at their own bodies. And yes, it is horrific. sad

But that wasn't the answer to your question.

Umm, yes I have learned a lot but don't want to get into it now! Sorry wink

Oooh.

This is a good thread.

I didn't read it, but I love lyrics.

Hmmm.

Lemme think of a good one.
I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

There are certain people in Pakistan who don't have the part of the brain that makes you feel pain. So, they don't feel any pain.

Their number one cause of death is falling off roofs. Apparently, they like to take naps after a hard day of working on the roof, and when they roll over, it doesn't wake them up.

It's a tragedy.
