Hi everybody,

I'm writing this to tell you that Chris, better known here as cborgman, is in the Hospital. The doctors told him that he has PCP Pneumonia, which has nothing to do with the drug PCP. It is HIV related and as many of you know, Chris has HIV. He is doing better. Today was the first day that he was able to get out of the bed in a week. He doesn't know how long he will be in the hospital but he wanted me to tell you that he is on the upswing. He also wanted me to tell you:

Please do NOT call or text him at this time, needless to say he loves you all and he will call you as soon as he is able to.

Out of privacy, he didn't want me to disclose which hospital he is in.

Please keep Chris in his thoughts and prayers. Thanks and God Bless

Hi everyone,
I just finished getting in contact with Chris about a half hour ago and he told me that he was walking with Physical Therapist this morning, so he is getting better and better by the day. Keep those prayers going cause they are working and I will continue to keep you updated. Thanks

UPDATE 11/7/07
I just got home from the hospital and I have some great news. Chris is doing much, much better. When I saw him on Sunday, he had to wear an oxygen mask to breathe. Now, he is using a nose piece and he sounds a lot better. Plus, Chris is finally out of ICU! Me and one of the nurses helped move Chris to his new room. He is able to walk around on his own, take a shower and be somewhat independant again. If all goes well, Chris may be out of the hospital as soon as this weekend. He will let me know what's happening and as soon as I know, you will too.

I want to say thank you to Muse. She gave me the suggestion to print out the pages from this thread and I did it before I left work. Turns out when I got there, Chris was irritated because he was waiting to move, so when he saw the thread, he cheered up and now he will read everything you guys posted to him. He will get back to you as soon as he is able. Once again, when I get some new info, I will post it back to you.

UPDATE 11/9/07
Chris let me know that he walked about 200 feet with his Physical Therapist. He may be home by early next week as the doctors want to make sure that he is in good enough condition before he leaves. Things are still going well.

UPDATE 11/12/07
I saw Chris today and he is still doing well in his recovery. While I was at the hospital, Chris took some time to write to the org and and he wanted me to share this with everyone. Here is what Chris wrote:

Hey Folks,
Thank You for all your prayers and concerns and well-wishes. Cam prints them out for me to read and it's so touching to see the love, especially when I need the encouragement.

I only didn't want the hospital name announced because people always want to call the room or send stuff and both are problematic. Because I have troubles breathing and I'm on oxygen, talking is very difficult, particularly when I had the air cannon mask strapped to my head when I was in really bad shape. When my job sent flowers, the hospital brought them in so that I could see them from about 10 feet away, then they immediately threw them away in a different room. Food is no different.

I am out of ICU and in General Care, which is a big step. They are not sure when they will release me, but I am hopeful it will be late this week. At that point, I will become an outpatient and still have a few weeks of therapy, anti-biotics and such. They are sending me with lots of meds when I go, including putting me on an anti-viral program of meds for the HIV.

This was the first symptoms or conditions of my affliction, so it was a bit of a wake-up call. The PCP pnuemonia is HIV specific, and can be deadly. However, my case was not that extreme. Even at the worst points, it has not been anywhere near deadly.

Thank you again for all the love, well-wishes, positive thoughts, prayers. and so on. It helps encourage me a lot, particularly when I get cabin fever after 2 weeks here. I will write as soon as I can access a computer. Much love to all...

UPDATE 11/14/07
Tonight, I spoke with Chris and he told me the news we all want to hear, CHRIS IS BACK AT HOME! He is resting now and he told me that he will be here on the org somewhere tomorrow, so be on the lookout for Chris's return! Thank you for posting your comments and prayers for Chris. As he told you, he really appreciates it and for me, it's been a pleasure in letting you know what's been going on with Chris and his recovery. Thank you & God Bless.

chris has been in my thoughts recently and even though this news is unsettling, i'm happy to hear he's on the upswing. i totally respect and understand his need for privacy, but i hope he also knows he has a whole heap of folks wishing him the best.

I'm crying as i type this. Chris has been a longtime good Org friend to me. I actually sent him some books for Christmas back in '03 in a candle box from Pier 1 and he dedicated a thread in my honor--he said the box smelled like "sexy straight boy"

He called me last June when I was hospitalized with blood clots. He's such a caring person.

I hope to God he gets better.

Chris, I love you. You're one of the few honest people I know. Get better soon.
