It got down to 58 degrees last night, although the temperature at the time that we were there was just under 70. Lately, I've been kind of bored with my city, Tampa. Its industrial complexes, its sky-rises, its countless shopping malls, all serve to increase the plasticity of this area. One road starts to look like the other, and before long, you might as well be driving down the street in some road in Columbus Ohio or some shit. But last night, after driving out to Treasure Island beach, and walking out on this sugar white sands, and staring out at the Gulf of Mexico, I realized why I still love this place. Amid the forced re-urbinzation projects, the uber-glistening towers of greed and prosperity, and the clear signs of gentrification at nearly ever corner, there are still tacky scatterings of Tiki bars, old bungalos painted wildy ugly colors, pink wooden flamingos used as yard decorations, and palm trees decorated in Christmas lights. There is still the gulf of fucking Mexico, always seafoam green or aqua blue. Always shallow, and always teaming with wildlife. Next weekend if the weather cooperates, I will be going out on a boat with my buddy up and down the Manatee River--the real Florida, with it's hidden mangrove swamps, it's various crystal clear fresh water springs, and it's aligators, manatees, and birdlife, must be viewed from a boat or kayak. This alone keeps me in love with her. Where do you live, and what do you love or like about it? What do you not like? tripple its edit [Edited 11/4/07 9:17am] You know every once in a while, you start threads that both surprise and delight me ....

Erin and I were at the beach last night also. The weather was incredible, we sucked down two bottles of wine on the sand. It was great. And then a blunt on the way home.
Life doesn't get much better than that people!

any place that can go from blue skies to terrifying thunder/hailstorms in half an hour is pure evil in my book.

I live in Texas where, apparently, I am no longer a boo.
It's OK, though, After all, I live in Texas.
