I'm a so-so baker. I've been doing RAW foods on weekeds lately so not much time for baking.

Yesterday, I had a delicious treatloaf (raw/vegan meatloaf) with smashed potatoes (raw califlower, macadamia nuts, and garlic), with a side salad. drool

I looked for their Maroon SUV before parking my car and going in.

Actually, I would have enjoyed some company at lunch. It was another one of those "dining alone" experiences (I know NOBODY who wants to eat vegan or raw neutral ).

A nice young couple struck up a conversation with me from another table and told me to go to a Tampa Vegan website that lists all the vegan friend companies. So it was a nice little 15 minute conversation that was informative, and didn't border on absurd like last weekend.
Overall, if the food I can prepare tastes anything like this restaurant, I cold probably easily do RAW/Vegan 5 out 7 days of the week. It really was delicious food--I mean, the lunch I had, I would have picked over the real alternative.

Sure, but I would hardly consider you "fat" from what I have seen.

Well thanks.

Nobody would consider you fat either, but that doesn't stop you from feeling like you are.

Self-perception is a fucked up thing sometimes, I suppose.

I heart baking! I just made some Halloween sugar cookies for my niece and nephews last week. Normally, I take the goodies to work or give them away to friends and family. Making gift baskets is a really good idea. It will make both you and the receiver feel good.

I know what you mean about putting the weight on though. I was off of work for 2 months and in that time, baked and began cooking whole meals once again. I put on the pounds once again. sigh Oh well. hehe

I bought a bunch of apples a week ago and I'm realizing I'll never use them up before they go bad, so now I'm looking for apple recipes. Maybe I'll make applesauce... that will use a bunch of them quickly... hmmm

I have a fantastic Apple Bread recipe smile (from another message board really)

oven 325, bakes in about 1 hour and 10 minutes

3 eggs, slightly beaten
2 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon vanilla

3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

4 cups chopped, pared, cored apples (about 3-4) (this puts to good use that darned apple/peeler/corer slicer thing you got at a Pampered Chef party years ago and never used!)
1 cup chopped pecans

topping:
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1. Preheat oven to slow 325. Grease and flour two 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pans (or I use those mini loaf pans)

2. Stir together the eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla in medium sized bowl until well mixed.

3. Combine the flour, soda and cinnamon on piece of waxed paper, and then then stir into liquid ingredients until just evenly mixed. Stir in the apples and pecans. The mixture will be very thick and gloppy.

Divide between the loaf pans.

4: Prepare the topping: combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small cup, and sprinkle over the loaves.

5: Bake in preheated slow oven at 325 for 1 hour and 10 minutes, approximately. Check it carefully with a tester inserted in center comes out CLEAN. Make sure it's done. Sometimes in my oven they take longer than the time specified. Make sure they are done. Nothing worse than raw middle.

Let the breads cool in the pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Run a thin knife around the edges of the pans. Remove the breads from the pans to wire racks to cool.

The breads are better the second day. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or foil and store at room temperature.

I don't really do much baking from scratch. I mean anybody can buy those Betty Crocker and Duncan Hines cake mix out of a box and just follow the directions, but I have only baked one time from scratch and that was an upside pineapple cake. Don't know what happened but it turned out to be more of a custard cake rather than fluffy sad And so I ended it there until I have way too much time on my hands one day to try it again. But this is what I really have a taste for:

drool

razz

Sorry about the up close photos, but this is from a bakery in my town.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I don't bake. I'm too impatient to, like, "measure" and shit.

Mary kinda likes to bake, and I had to tell her to stop, because she doesn't eat sugar, so she'd make a batch of something and I'd end up eating the whole thing. lol
oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!
