OMG You Guys!!! I just did the dumbest thing, unknowingly. I was on my computer tonight, and got a pop up box, asking me if I wanted to download an upgrade on my computer. It appeared to be from Microsoft, so I clicked okay. STUPID MISTAKE!!!! About 10-15 minutes later, I got a message on my computer, saying that there was spyware activity on my computer, that someone has hacked into my computer, etc. etc.
I called my computer guy in a panic, left him a message, told him what was going on, and said that it was an emergency, that I needed for him to come out tomorrow to fix the problem. I'm in a state of panic right now, I've d/led and run Spybot, Adaware, and AVG, trying to get rid of these stupid viruses/trojans/whatever it is that's messing up my computer. I've also deleted all of my temporary/internet files/browsing history off of my computer, but what I'm really concerned with is my online bank accounts. I'm worried that the idiot(s) involved have access to my account numbers, and are going to mess around with my money. Being unemployed for the last 10 months, that is a major concern for me. Bottom line, don't be an idiot like me and d/l anything that says it's from Microsoft, unless you know for damn sure that it is legitimate. The person(s) involved know how to trick you into d/ling something you shouldn't, and then you'll wind up with the same issues that I'm having. To the person(s) involved in this, be glad I don't know you or know where you live. I would make personally sure to make your life a living hell! That is all. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

it has happened to me before as well, sort of with pop ups etc.
a rule of thumb: never accept anything even though it is from a real company, it they want u they will contact u by phone or mail. get a anti-spyware program if u can, i don't know if u can fix the comp but i got the mcafrre security suite cost me 100 dolars but it is worth it, anytime there is a change in the comp it alerts u and u can accept or decline, so far so good.

it's sad that there are so many scumbags on the net these days.
i think the internet has bred an entirely new world of paper tigers. people who have nothing going for them in the real world, where it takes substance to actually walk the walk. hope you get things worked out soon!
