Ex-Moderator | baking I used to bake once in a while. I stopped for a long time, but I've recently gotten back into it. I think I'm going to make some apple ginger scones today.
The problem? I'm going to get SUPER fat again if I keep doing it. What do you do with your baked goods if you bake? I don't want to bring them in to work cause nearly everyone I work with is watching their weight as well. Do I have to stop baking? Should I start making gift baskets for my neighbors? Who likes to bake? |

I love to bake
I have Kids ( teens ) in the house often so they eat - I give some to our parents as well you could do 1/2 batches

It's not hard! You just have to measure precisely and follow directions. |

baking is fun actually...I enjoy baking...we do it as a family thing around the holidays...the kids get their fair share of baked things throughout the year but my wife makes alot of gift baskets and stuff like that...I think you'll find most peole will give up a lil' dieting for home baked goods...

I used to bake all the time but then I got too big from it.
Now I just bake when I have the urge, usually I make some ooey gooey brownies, and then just eat them until they're gone. I tell myself that I can eat as many as I want but once they are gone, they are gone. Then I don't bake again for a few months. It allows me to indulge once and a while without gaining a million pounds.

I love to bake too but since it's just my son and I and he does not have a sweet tooth at all, I end up eating it all.
So I don't really bake anymore.

I've made brownies 3 times in the last month, made cheesy garlic bisquits and I've been on a pancake kick too. And while I share with my friend who lives upstairs, it's still mostly eaten by myself. I think part of it is the weather, I always get way hungry/munchy/carb-y in the fall. I bought a bunch of apples a week ago and I'm realizing I'll never use them up before they go bad, so now I'm looking for apple recipes. Maybe I'll make applesauce... that will use a bunch of them quickly... |

Ex-Moderator | I've always thought I should become a professional baker... because nearly everyone LOVES baked goods. Do you see how happy people are, just eating a simple cupcake? I know how unbelievably happy I am when I'm about to eat a cupcake or bar or muffin or cookie or cake or whataver. And then it's EXPECTED of you to be fat. It's practically a job requirement.
I should consider this more, I think. |

I love to bake...cookies, sweet breads, pies, cakes! It's getting to be that time of year again, where I will make tons of these things. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

I remember once mirrorsbestfriend started a thread about whether it was worth one's time to talk to ugly people. The whole premise is that he didn't feel it was necessary to talk to them since there isn't anything from an ugly person that he would want or need. The thread digressed, as planned by it's archetech, into name calling and harsh exchanges between orgers. At that time I thought it was the worst thread posted this year.
This thread proves me wrong.

This thread proves me wrong. you're no Betty Crocker, huh? I'm a so-so baker. I've been doing RAW foods on weekeds lately so not much time for baking. Yesterday, I had a delicious treatloaf (raw/vegan meatloaf) with smashed potatoes (raw califlower, macadamia nuts, and garlic), with a side salad.

I love the idea of baking but when it comes down to actually doing it, there are so many damn obstacles. For one thing, I don't enjoy baking all by myself and it's hard to convince people to make time and join in. Also I don't have all the proper equipment like measuring cups, baking pans etc. Plus there are often a whole bunch of ingredients and I use only the small amount needed from each packet and the rest sits in my kitchen until it expires, which makes it unnecessarily costly.
I miss the time when my friend Alessandra used to live her and bake almost every day.
