I haven't been out to do much on halloween the last few years. My oldest friend and her husband had a baby a of couple years ago, so instead of going out and whooping it up and leaving her behind, I've gone over to her house and we've made dinner and I've helped pass out candy to the kids in her neighborhood.

This year, she's had another baby, but the oldest is ready to go out and get some tricks and treats himself.

SO -

I am going to watch Anna who is only a few months old while she and her husband take their son out trick or treating.

I haven't babysat since I was 14 and I haven't been alone with an infant that small, like, EVER.

I know it won't be any big deal. But I'm frankly frightened nonetheless.

If she's only a few month old, she'll probably sleep a lot. Just make faces at her. They love that shit.

you'll do great a few months old you hold and walk around with them - feed them and change them and if they are awake you coo and talk to them alot

You'll be okay. If she screams you'll know for sure that it's because she's either hungry, sleepy, cold, hot, need a diaper change, is dying, is grumpy or has no reason whatsoever. It couldn't be simpler, really.

Just stick her in a back room in a cot/crib/cradle and shut the door. If she cries, all is well. If she sleeps, all is well.

Oh lawd, I had to baby sit my nephews when the were tiny too.

Just remember, no matter how much she screams and cries, just hold her until she falls asleep. Once they get in that mommy-or-nobody phase, that's all you can do.

She has never, ever asked me to babysit before. And she's had kids for years now. I always told her I was the one to call when she already found a babysitter.

I'm not sure if she asked cause we kind of have a halloween tradition going now (and she's practically my sister, we've known each other since she was 2 and I was 3) or cause she couldn't find anyone else.

It's a good thing I'm going out tonight afterwards. I'll probably need a drink.

the part that always trips me up is you think they have filled their pants
and really they were just letting some hot air go
so do you get to hand out candy at the same time? don't worry, it's doubtful
they will go very far with such a little tyke trick or treating

Babies are great! You will have fun! They smell so sweet, and they are so darn cute!
