she sang and played the guitar & piano for me.
she lived in an alternative neighborhood & had bohemian friends.
she didn't mind huggin' me.
she taught "The Hustle" dance lessons at age 70 in the 70's
and volunteered for the local theater center.
she was known to read one book a day.
she used the TV's audio to keep her company, but she really never "watched" it.
she used to call it the IDIOT BOX.

she was my shining star

she died on my 19th birthday.
i later came to realize this as a gift instead of a tragedy.
cause we SHARE 1 of 2 dates in which a human comes into or exits this life on earth.
i think it was her last way of saying, "I Love You" (more than i can say),
cause i wasn't given the opportunity to tell her goodbye.
all i got was the phonecall on my birthday sayin' 'your grandma's dead.'

oh, and she told me a few times "i was her favorite person in the whole, wide world."

Hmmmm lets see, I never felt safe, I was a complete outsider in my own family, I raised my step sister since I was 13, I was beaten, molested, depressed and tried to kill myself.....I miss nothing from my childhood

I miss hearing my dad play his spanish records on saturday (i wouldn't have known it was saturday then). I miss playing baseball with friends until the fucking good humor truck came and ruined the rest of the game. I miss watching REAL cartoons. I miss discovering music like parliament and looking at groups and their outfits knowing u couldn't get that at that mall.

and i'm glad there wasn't the internet ..u either wrote letters or called someone instead

Elementary school. Going on field trips to the pumpkin farm; the zoo; the museum...the Halloween parties, etc.

...Basically, just the (like someone said earlier in the thread) carefree aspect of being a kid. No worries. Playing all the damn time. Not being cynical yet, that kind of thing.

Camping with my entire family. Oh so much fun!!!!!
