have u ever invented anything? or thought of an invention only to find someone else has used it and takes all the credit

I came up with this ridiculous idea for creating a monitoring machine for when you might lose an item. It would programme where you last had it and when. A ridiculous idea really, ill thought out.

Both my granddad and my dad are pretty much inventors. My granddad created new sound-mixing and recording technology for the movie studios back in the day and keeps experimenting with new stuff today. Just a couple of years ago he invented - just for fun - a system where a GPS locator is hooked up to a mechanical arm which points out your exact location on a real sea chart (which is much easier to read) as opposed to an electronic one. He's 86. My dad has invented book-binding technology among other things. I'm proud of them both and wish I was technologically savvy like them, but my talents lie mostly in other fields.

My job urges me to have a more mthodological approch to inventing rather than the mad inventor kind of approach, but I love the ideas aproach to descovery. I have had little impact on the world as yet, but my work one day my find good use.

I invented a productivity toilet seat.

It basically detects when you sit on it and then a timer starts running. After 5 minutes it automatically retracts the toilet paper, a sirene goes off and the toilet door automatically opens.

I already got orders in from most of the Fortune 500 companies, I'm only looking for a company to produce it.

I called into the inventor's hotline for ideas on how to get it on the market. 6 months later Saran Wrap had these on the shelf. I don't think they sell them anymore so I guess it wasn't that great of an idea.
