Personally though, I think a marriage proposal is such a personal and intimate thing between the two people that it's best done in private. You don't need the distraction of other people at a time like that.

I think it's fine if you're sure that the answer is yes. But it would be unfair if you know there are issues and trying to take advantage of it being public and the feeling of the proposed person not wanting to cause embarrassment by refusing.

i think it's stupid to propose in public. it makes me roll my eyes and spit venom.

private proposals with an engagement party afterwards is the best, in my opinion.

I proposed to my ex-fiance by slipping her ring into a glass of ice water. I was barely 19 at the time.
