I agree...they should stay away form all the back story stuff...give us a well written, live action "episode"...thats the problem with most super hero movies...too much build up/backstory...

That's because the films feel they have to explain it all to people who have no idea whom these characters are.

yeah, i agree but the general public doesnt give a shit about the reason batman became batman or why the hulk has a shitty attitude...they usually just wanna see the action...
maybe the film producers try to present the backstory for the purists but they generally screw it up...

Maybe you're right because even though I liked the Hulk movie, a lot of people complained that there was too much character development and not enough action.

this film in paticular could use alot less character development...most everyone knows who the major players are...I hope it turns out decent...just the fact their gonna make this movie is exciting...now they need to make an Avengers movie...woot!

Yes just establish that Superman does know Batman, make the hint that they even team up togther in the past a couple of times. Now you can move forward. Thats they way to do it. I hate when people say there are to many characters, thats a cope out. There were too many characters in Oceans 11. No need to see George Glooneys as kid, nor Brad Pit and the rest.

not back in the day they weren't. around the time of alpha flight #1, they were the shit. of course, that was back when john byrne could do no wrong and well before it became apparent that his writing and art would only get worse with time, and that the work he'd already done would age terribly. or something like that... lol

Only time I bothered with Alpha Flight was when Wolverine or the Hulk made guest appearances.

i'll totally defend the old skool AF up to the introduction of that one character, "Box". after that, i think it jumped the shark.

Yeah, John Byrne and Alpha Flight was hot. I remember it well. nod

You're right, his work got bad with time, but I think his seventies and early eighties work holds up well. biggrin

As did I. Check out Perez work on Wonder Woman - great stuff. Byrne's run on the FF & the Hulk was classic.

Byrne's Hulk run was so short. Didn't he leave like after six issues to go and revamp Superman for DC?

In the 70s, Terry Austin's inking on X-Men took Byrne's pencils over the top. His other 70s work like on Iron Fist for example is really good, but not as excellent as on X-Men. Byrne hit his peak on his Fantastic Four run in the 80s.

Yeah, his Hulk run was short, but those issues were kick-ass.

IMO, his "Man of Steel" is THE definitive Superman. He nailed the relationship between Supes & Batman perfectly - mutual respect, but different methods.
