How Satisfied Are You?

I was getting a bit of road rage yesterday when I realized I was completely unsatisfied in my life.

I've been coasting along pretty smoothly. Things are okay, I have a job, girlfriend, condo, band, friends.

My life has not been in crisis for a while. But I can't pretend anymore that that equals satisfaction.

It's easy to go on with things being dull & dependable, because I've had worse. But that's no reason to stop trying for something better in life.

So where are you at in your life?

Sounds about right. We go around in circles and we're bound to feel the different emotions.

I haven't been feeling the extremes, so much. I've been in a more limited range of pleasant to dull.

I am riding the extremes for us both then rolleyes serious extreme life roller coaster trip.

That being as it has always been most my life. I do tend to get way more stressed out when things are in the almost normal dull phase.

rose here is to some excitement and reaching new goals in your life

What would you like in your life ... I mean to feel more satisfied ?

I've had the extremes, and I appreciate the current stability in my life. It's hard to complain, that's how I ended up here.

But I'm not happy with my decent job, the band that allows me to be the star, or my life at home.

I am really overwhelmed with volunteer type stuff at my girls school eek They go to a private school, where you are required to volunteer atleast 30 hours per school year. I volunteer somewhere in the 100 plus hours, way plus, I do not even try to count my hours. I am the chairwoman for the anual holiday boutique that is 6 weeks away. I am the roommom for one of my daughters class rooms...and I just found out yesterday that I need to plan a party for tomorrow, in my daughters class. I always am the nut mom calling in the evenings trying to get parents participation. rolleyes ahhh!!

you sound overwhelmed. Is that kind of stuff you want to be doing, or did you imagine something else for yourself?

That's totally what it's about.. what you expected for yourself vs what you have.

It's weird, I have almost everything I could want, but each of those things themselves are not what I really imagined.

To bring about change, you have to initiate new behavior.

The responsibility is all ours.

Exactly... there's a job but what are your duties?

There's a lover with a vagina, but what else?

There's a band, but what would you change?

I think it's great to be involved with your kids school, but I hope you're not guilted into doing it. The scholarship should be about your kids, not your volunteer work.

I think it is always good to desire everything.
As long as I don't depend on it to be happy.

For the past year I have been very satisfied. Mostly about the positive energy flowing through it. My constant observation of the interaction between people, serious self study and finally being able to kill negativity with a loving and accepting demeanor have proven that it is really all about your perception.

I changed my way of perceiving life and my reactions. I changed my focus from challenges (what seem like problems) to hidden blessings and moments to learn from or respond to differently.

And I have been satisfied to the fullest. Seriously. It's all about perception. Think about it. On a larger scale it doesn't matter what u don't have. It matters whether u can be grateful of what life IS giving u.

If ur not satisfied, I pray that you'll see all the things that do make u smile and the strength and guts to chance what doesn't work for u. You know the saying: ''If u keep doing what u've always been doing, you'll keep getting what u've always gotten.''

gonna make a change (DAH!) for once in my life

Change isn't only hard, it's scary because it threatens the stability in our lives. But usually when we change the people around us are actually pleased about it, too.

neutral the easy answer is no and in order for me to change things to where I could be, I'd have to cut ties with just about everyone I know.

That's kind of how I've been. But I realized that just because stuff could be worse doesn't mean it couldn't be better also. And it's not so much about complaining, but like Cinnie said, acting.

Of course, if you can look with that perspective and it really makes you appreciate where you are & what you have, then that's good, too.
