When Strangers Insult You

I was underneath the ridiculous "smoking canopy" at work this afternoon, talking to a colleague, Kennedy, whom has started smoking again after giving up for nearly ten years. Kennedy stated that the stress of our work was a factor in his renewed smoking.

Out of the blue, some chubby young man turned to me laughing and said, "So, did the stress of working here make your hair fall out?"... I was less than amused.

So, I snapped back, "You cheeky cunt! Did the stress make you grossly overweight?". He looked a little shocked by my reaction, stared at his feet and replied stuttering, "W,w,well, I am eating too much lately. I ate a full bag of pistachios to myself"...

I had never seen this person before today.

I just laugh shrug really

a starnger has no power to insult me - not that they don't try

When someone I know trys to insult me - I just usually stare them in the eyes and show no emotion

then I pull my blade from my boot and tell them to " hush or i'll cut ya "

i had a group of shorter men blatantly mock me (for my height) as i walked by them a couple weeks ago. stuff like that happens from time to time. i don't know why people think it's okay, or funny. shrug i ignore it, except for the time i told off two assholes in a bookstore. the friends i was with were shocked. lol

Well that is stupid. You're 6 foot right?
Which means, if they're not that height they're not exactly tall for their age, in America anyways.

I find the opposite to be true here. Men below 5'9 or so are in danger of getting teased. It's bizarre how height is so important to folks.

It's weird isn't it? I think it's the last-stand "ism" which can be levelled at somebody if they don't fit any other minority demographic.

i think so, that or just under it. it's usually shorter than average men who do it for some reason. you'd think they'd understand that being an unusual height isn't fun. lol

falloff porker.

I hate people who feel needlessly compelled to hurl even a minor jeer at someone they don't know. I tend to shout something foul back.

I'm pretty sure every one of those guys wouldn't kick you out of bed though.

I find that alot of girls simply will not date a guy shorter than they are, and I'm talking girls who are like 5'8 or 5'9--not short girls. It's like not even a consideration. I've had really heated conversations about it before, as it's one of those few things people can't really change--and ultimately pretty trivial to single height out.

But then again, outside of penis size, there's a manhood factor that attached to height here in the states. Ultimately though, I'm happy as hell I stand 5'11 lol

I was teased enough in school for being short, small breasted/petite and having a big nose...as I became an adult I learned the real reason ppl usually say mean things to other ppl. Usually they are insecure or jealous.

Heiress

I was riding my bike into town last week, wearing my striped stockings and a skirt w/ short boots (I won't wear dopey bike gear)... nothing unusual that you won't see downtown in my area.

Was going through a smaller town on the way and got heckled by a group of whatever the French version of chavs are. I could tell they were creeps, just from their backs. All about 16 years old, should have been in school on a Monday morning if they had been responsible sorts.

So I go by and the ugliest of them (from the back, anyway - never saw his face thankfully) starts shrieking at me, every name in the book and laughing like a hyena. Then the other jerk and the stupid girl with them started doing the same.

I didn't turn around, break my pace, anything. They were so desperate for attention that I certainly wasn't going to REWARD them with anything of the sort.

thumbs up!

I am getting insulted more and more in public by weak ass individuals who find they must say their driveling insult half under their breath as they are walking away. Cowards.

It hurts, it's personal, but I know that it's more a reflection of their lack of character.

When a rude remark is directed at me, I find feigning not understanding and politely saying "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that. What did you say?" whilst smiling and calmly looking them in the eye to be an effective response. Usually the person will stammer and squirm uncomfortably for a few moments before muttering some version of "Oh, nothing.." and skulking away. That's enough for me and I've made my point.

Of course, there are always the handful of proud and clueless louts who will happily repeat their rude comment/s, but most people who make insulting remarks - 'jokingly' or otherwise and to strangers or otherwise - know precisely how they are coming across and dislike having the spotlight shined onto their boorishness.

You just should have said; "Thank you insufferable ugly short men!" in the cheeriest Mickey Mouse Club kinda way and walked on.
