I never really understood the hate for Hanson...I mean yeah they were all just so cutetsy (sp?) it was hard to like them but they are talented musicians, singers and songwriters....
it's weird how people complain about the lack of good music out there but we all dis it at the first sign of it.
just sayin.
they sounded awesome on the show but I've never heard a bad musical guest on that show it's always amazing.
(hello Prince....DO the show!) smile

They're extremely talented guys, who take their influences from real musicians--many artsy fartsy and obscure ones. This isn't the Back street Boys.

I never understood why folks hate them. They're actually really good.

when they released mmm bop (aint that what its called?), the music scene was basically boybandpalooza, I think that hurt 'em some because they kinda got lumped in to that cutesy teeny bop shit...they deserved better...

I do appreciate that they haven't desperately tried to change their image. They're just proving to folks that they're very talented, and very well learned when it comes to music.

I'm glad to see Howard giving them exposure.

Howards taste in music is fairly surprising and broad....he loves Hum which is one of my favorite bands...sadly they're lost in obscurity....

My favorite Stern Show music moments:

1) Dave Grohl doing acoustic "Everlong" - amazing

2) Stevie Wonder's acoustic medly

3) James Brown performing "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" in studio with Howard's band, the losers.

Ya, for real. Anyone that knows anything about musicianship knows that they are extremely talented. People also forget that they were children when they first hit it big.

They're just annoying as anything. And that song "Mmmm Bop" just made them all the more annoying.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Well to each their own. I wouldn't necessarily label Hanson as talented.

I definately agree that their timing when they first hit the mainstream did not help them at all.

Then the long blonde hair, "teeny bop" image also didn't help.

What I like about them is that they were kids singing age appropriate music.
I hate to say it, but I don't want an 11 year old singing to me about love, loss the hardships of life and especially sex.

*For the record, I do know that many youth have it hard in this world, but those that end up with a major recording contract are probably not representative of those that have had it really bad.

They are talented musicians and it's good to see them growing up personally and musically.

how can you deny their talent? I mean come on...they are all singers, songwriters and musicians of multiple instruments and have been since they were just little kids...
I think you heard mmm bop and didn't like them and that's it.

Well, we need to agree to disagree on this subject then. It's not just the song that annoyed me, it's just their image, the whole package. They're just too damn cutsey for me to stomach. I don't think they're talented whatsoever, sorry.

Well, I guess that makes sense because they were children when they had that hit. They were kids marketed to kids but that certainly didn't make them any less talanted.

understandable...I used to feel similarly.
but to deny that they have any talent is just.....odd...to me. Is not guitar, keyboard, drum playing talent? anyway, you're right, we disagree.
