Somewhere around $36 for 750ml.I think. I buy it at a large liquor store near here. I don't know if they have a mail order service. For me it makes everything slightly off kilter, comfortably numb, Definitely different than just getting drunk. Meggy would tell you a lot more if she were able to be here. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

I drink Lucid myself, which is the first legal absinthe in the US since prohibition. Visit www.drinklucid.com.
I've never hallucinated, but I've been drunk enough on the stuff to see tracers. It's not unlike marijuana--slight out-of-body sensation. Quite enjoyable.

That's what I need to get the job done, Halloween it's on... I didn't get it right the first time but I be damned if Absinthe won't get it done.
Thank you so much for reminding me of this.

Absinthe was banned in the US in early 20th century as well as parts of Europe, due to the belief that it was addictive and caused people to become psychotic. This was actually largely due to the demand for it being so great at the time, you would have 2nd rate brewers and sellers cutting it with all sorts of dangerous additives for added potency, to increase supply and thus satisfy demand. The active ingredient to produce the legendary green fairy effect is in fact, wormwood. Europe has long since restarted the production and selling of absinthe (wormwood and all), and it's manufactured under strictly controlled production methods for purity and autheticity, not much unlike how there are strict methods for producing a brandy or a champagne. At present there are about 100 kinds of absinthe produced all over the EU.
...and the effects feel like a combo between a light alcohol and weed buzz...absinthe is meant to consumed in a small quantity and savored...it ain't like throwing back a rum & coke . I find that the after effects a daylater feels something like a heavy hangover with sluggishness, but oddly minus the headache as long as you didn't drink too much. Hope that helps
