Heating oil is stupid expensive.

We're renting this place with oil heat, which is a first for me, and I didn't realize how much it was gonna cost. Somehow I thought, being less refined than gasoline, that it would be cheaper. The cost is actually similar.

So, basically, we can't afford to heat our house. lol It's currently 50F (10C) in here. I have an electric space heater on full blast and my fingers are still getting numb.

Freakin' fossil fuel bullshit. . . feel like I'm living in the dark ages. . .mad

That's true. I'm not thinking clearly. My brain is freezing.

Never mind, Dan, I don't want to live with you.

Or in Florida.

good grief woman it must be as warm as that outside confused and this is just october!

there are still a crazy number of places in canada that rely on heating oil.
i remember what a pain in the ass it was at the farm. you didn't want to be
caught with no oil in the tank in case roads were nasty and the truck couldn't
make it out to deliver the fuel. thankfully pretty much everyone has natural gas now.

even still... during the height of winter i will spend $250 a month on heat. neutral

See, that's just crazy. $250. Shit. disbelief I had natural gas the last place I lived, and it was small, so I only spent about $20 per month (including using my stove) even in the middle of winter.

But yeah, the temp inside and outside are pretty similar right now. confused

Being cold is the most horrible feeling. You can only put on so many sweaters before you're just not getting any warmer.

I feel for you. When I was younger my stepmom didn;t really believe in heat...i guess she still doesn't believe in heat but I don;t live with her anymore so it's not a big deal. She stays warm even when it's freezing out.

Anyway, I sympathize. Being cold and not being able to fix it is one of the most horrible feelings. Have you tried opening up the oven and turing in on, like, 400 degrees or something?

I have a friend who keeps things cold like that and is comfortable. wacky

I actually have been leaving the oven on and open when I'm working in the kitchen. It's easier than unplugging the space heater and moving it. lol

But, I do have it on an extension cord, so it follows me around the main living area.

We should have rented a smaller, cheaper place. Live and learn. shrug

Be careful having your heater on anextension cord unless it is a cord made just for that.
