I have a few magazines around (National Geographic, I read it for the boobies!), but I feel saving magazines sets a dangerous precedent. It's a gateway to dying among stacks of newspapers & ten to twenty cats. My Legacy

I'm sorry. I can't support you on the whole magazine thing. Send your INTERVIEW magazines to me. I can add them to my collection. There is no way I would ever get rid of my DIVINE INTERVIEW issue.

I bought tons and tons of magazines over the years too. I ended up throwing out most of them, but kept the michael and janet ones, as well as some retro ones. I don't find those things exciting anymore now that I could read articles and get pictures and news online. I used to seriously get excited buying a magazine just to get one little pic of a celeb I liked, but no need for that anymore. [Edited 10/27/07 12:12pm]

Hey, wait a minute! Were there any good condition copies of Playboy and Penthouse among the porn you threw out? If those magazines were in good shape (no torn, dog-eared or bodily-stained pages ), then you should have put them up on eBay; there are a bunch of collectors of this stuff. Now if it's stuff like Bigg'uns, Juggs, Black Tail, Barely Legal, etc., then that stuff probably needed to go. Actually, most of the stuff people have in their closets and storage spaces need to be junked out anyway. I did some major cleaning about a month ago, and other than all of the dust which collected in the back of the room which gave me bad allergies, it was quite a good experience to be rid of all that clutter. I actually have more stuff I need to throw out, but I'm trying to figure out some way to send my old VCR's and stereo equipment to a recycling center.
I was at a wealth expo last year, and one of the wealth speakers said something about what someone told him about clutter. "The amount of stuff which a person has accumulated in his home is a direct reflection of the obstacles blocking the way to living a fulfilling life."

That sounds like bullshit. Did he explain why?

That sounds like bullshit. Did he explain why? He makes a bit of a leap with the "direct reflection" part, but I definitely agree with the basic premise that clutter is stuff that we're holding onto for misguided reasons, and it clutters our lives & minds as much as our houses. My Legacy

Like I said earlier, this was a quote which the speaker said was given to him, and while he didn't give a direct explanation about clutter being an obstacle to wealth, he gave personal examples of how collecting stuff, particularly buying stuff like expensive "toys", jewelery, and clothes on credit or home equity, is a drain on personal finances and keeps people from saving and investing for financial security. He said that the true idea of wealth is being able to have enough income generating assets (real estate, stock and bond dividends, home business) that could finance a good lifestyle without actively having to work for it or borrow money to sustain it. He also said that having a lot of stuff around the house gave the impression that one was desperate not to lose what they had, and in essence was "playing scared" with his/her money.

As a music collector, I can actually see his point.

He just means the more stuff you have, the less money you can invest in the right way, more or less. My Legacy

I got rid of my entire porn collection (apart from the 'couples' type porn). The guys at work had a field day for about two weeks.
I have every Edge mag since Oct 1994. That's the English electronic entertainment magazine and not the American gay porn one. Thought I'd best point that out. I hate getting rid of stuff too though. My wife and I are both horders. Not of cash though which is a bit of a fucker. Anyway get rid of your porn and get on down to imagefrap Woo and indeed Hoo.
