PITBULLS KILL Miniature Horse Belonging to young cancer patient.

http://www.ksat.com/news/...etail.html

AMARILLO -- A miniature horse given to a boy with brain cancer by the Make-A-Wish Foundation was killed by a pair of pit bulls who were found roaming in his yard, authorities said.
The 31-inch tall horse, Anniversary, was donated by the foundation to 3-year-old Christian Vasquez in late August.
Christian, who was diagnosed in January with a malignant form of brain cancer, received a pull cart, a blanket, a halter and a bridle set from the foundation on Saturday, said Jelaine Workman, executive director for the foundation's Amarillo chapter.

Two days later, Anniversary was found dead on his property in Pampa by Christian's father, Raul Vasquez.
The father was nearly attacked by the dogs but managed to climb a tree and call 911 on his cell phone.
One of the dogs was captured by authorities and remains in custody at the Pampa animal pound, while the other escaped and remained on the loose, Gray County Sheriff Don Copeland said.
"I was scared to death," said Raul Vasquez, 41. "They killed Anniversary, and I thought they would kill me too."
It was unclear how the dogs entered the property, which is surrounded by a 4 1/2-foot-high fence.
Workman said the foundation won't be able to supply a second horse but was getting calls from residents who wanted to donate money for a new one.
Anniversary cost $1,300, and the foundation included free feed, training and veterinary care for a year in its gift.
"This horse was beautiful," Workman said. "It just makes me angry that people allow their dogs to run on the loose."

I'm not sure why the pit bull species is allowed to exist.

with all due respect and I really dig what MaW is doing for sick kids, but giving away pets is the worst thing you can do.

Now it is pitbulls killing them but imagine the kid dying in the end (which I pray for would not happen) who will take care of the horse. Even now, the parents probably have their hands full with the care of the kid and maybe siblings .... disbelief

they had better hooked him up with a horse owner that would take him on rides whenever he wants and let him take care of the horse once in a while.

Putting a horse in your backyard is just asking for atention. Would i put a zebra on my front driveway? NO i would not.

At least it was the horse and not the little lad that the dogs ate. pray

I wouldn't put ANYTHING past a bullfrog. I do not like bullfrogs. I've killed so many that my wife thinks one day, they're all going to gather up against me and croak me to death.

It won't work, though. I read a Stephen King story where that exact thing happened, and so they don't have the element of surprise any more.

Kill a bullfrog, make the world a better place.

Do it while listening to "Diamonds and Pearls". It'll be our little secret.

You've got it all wrong. The pits were loving dogs that regularly nurse and change babies' diapers without incident. They also volunteer with seniors on the weekends.

Someone obviously trained these dogs to attack miniture horses. It's very common in the south I hear.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

OR

The dogs smelled the kids brain cancer, came to the conclusion the miniture horses are an unknown but powerful carcinogen, and killed it in an attempt to cure the child.

Of course someone trained them to do the killing part. Pits are not killers by nature. Never.

I heard that if it weren't for pitbulls,
the population of 31 inch miniature horses would be totally out of control.
