I like it lots. It is like Prince.org without the forums. I met some great friends through there.

Scrobbling means installing an application on your computer that allows last.fm to download INFO on what songs you are playing.

FAQ
What is scrobbling?

Scrobbling a song means that when you listen to it, the name of the song is sent to Last.fm and added to your music profile.

What’s it all about?

With Last.fm on your computer you can scrobble(?) your tracks, share your music taste, listen to personalised radio streams, and discover new music and people.

Last.fm is open source software and contains no spyware / adware. (We hate that stuff as much as you do.)

Also, if you use Skype, you can use Last.fm to set your Skype mood message to the track you're currently listening to.

Once you've signed up and downloaded Last.fm, you can scrobble songs you listen to on your computer or iPod automatically. Start scrobbling yourself, and see what artists you really listen to the most. Songs you listen to will also appear on your Last.fm profile page for others to see.

Millions of songs are scrobbled every day. This data helps Last.fm to organise and recommend music to people; we use it to create personalised radio stations, and a lot more besides.

a little bit, you can make your own radio stations by choosing artists you like, then it finds songs by them and other bands it thinks are similar, I usually have it on in the background at work as radio in the uk sucks during the day!
