Never found family guy funny...but Simpsons sucks these days too so taking out the Simpsons characters is a good idea.

I think it was also a play on the fact that Maggie seems to shoot people on the Simpsons, she shot Mr Burns and shot the mafia group that was after Homer on one show

I saw nothing wrong with it. Family guy, Simpsons and South Park seem to be all good with each other. Besides it's just humor. I am sure Matt and Seth each had a laugh over it. I am sure FOX condoned it. I thought it was a cute take on those annoying ads we see all the time.

I didn't think it went too far. There was a long pause before Quagmire shot maggie so he obviously thought and anguished about it before pulling the trigger. Now if he shot her faster than the others, like before she could even make two sucks on her pacifier, then that would have been offensive.
