The sad thing is, all that equipment that was bought on account of the Cedar fire, can't be used in this fire because of the winds. How nuts is that? Can we be prepared for anything?

i don't think so. It seems SD is run by people who can't think.

Ain't that the truth. I'm worried about those embers blowing on the west winds, that was a big problem last time, doesn't seem to be as big as a concern this time, though.

yet, i wonder what the sky will look like tomorrow. around 2 i started to notice the billows from East County.

tomorrow could be raining ash again.

I don't know, but I did notice it didn't get that deep reddish look here, a little hazy but not that dense end of the world look of the last time.

I just got sent home. They want everyone off the roads. Massive evacuations. It's Cedar revisited. sigh Santa Ana winds ain't no joke. Went from 1 to 8 now 7 fires, unfortunately a lot of homes in RB are burning that's just 20 minutes freeway drive away from me. One sad thing is a lot of people have just this year rebuilt their homes after the Cedar fire are in danger again.

It is also so damn windy in southern california!! we have no fire (right now) in santa barbara, but in watching the news, it looks just awful in southern california. Our windy days were saturday and sunday, we have a lot of fallen trees on the roads.

We've hit the 500,000 evacuee mark last night. The smaller fires are joining together at this point to make larger ones. The winds are so high that water planes/helicopters aren't able to take off. I am so sorry for anyone down there affected, whether by fire or smoke. It's unbelieveable.
Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I usually skip Fire Season & just go right to Wabbit Season.

Though, if you are going to go out hunting for fires,
be warned;
they can get pretty nasty when you back 'em into a corner.
