I have no idea what the attraction is to those mop heads, but they are popular for sure, my costume shop around the corner is filled with "deedee" costumes for Halloween. | |

Dora the Explorer and Blues Clues that's good toddler tv.

Of all the American cartoons,
you chose Veggie Tales? Don't judge all U.S. cartoons by that one. Not all of 'em have religious under-tones or will sublimely corrupt your child's impressionable mind. If you want a safe animated series about fruits and/or vegetables, try Aqua-Teen-Hunger-Force. Or Family Guy (this guy  is from there).[Edited 10/22/07 13:59pm] | |

Veggie Tales is a religious show in disguise, but it has nothing on the original animated Christian show "Davey and Goliath".

Some people have theorized, and it makes sense to me, that the whole ADD thing linked to too much screen time is because kids need to move their bodies to have normal neurodevelopment. The brain doesn't develop independent of the body. Using the body forms neural connections. Kids who don't form those connections properly end up having trouble with things like focus and learning, which require interhemispheric communication that is developed, in part, by lots of physical activity. In summary: We're wiring kids wrong. I don't think TV is evil, but I wouldn't allow network TV in my house if I had kids (I mean, I don't have it now, but I certainly wouldn't get it for their benefit). I'd allow DVDs. Commercial-free, and not so easy to just sit in front of all day. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1! | |

Commercial-free, and not so easy to just sit in front of all day. you limit screen time to 30 minutes (tv, dvd or computer) and let them choose (when they are 5+ or so) which they want, and that gives you incredible leverage with cleaning up etc  | |
