musicals

I LOOOOOVE them. Sometimes even the cheesier the better. And while I don't even know that many of them, my tastes are all over the board. From old stuff like "Funny Face" (probably my favorite, btw), to Sound of Music to Little Shop of Horrors to Rent I love them all. I used to fantasize about real life breaking into a musical (ok, still do sometimes, my head is always going). I was telling someone about this in my college cafeteria once and we played out the whole scene with students dancing off the tables and all.

What are your favorite musicals? smile

My favorite was just on TCM last night.

"My Fair Lady"

My class did that musical and I was in the company. But I loved the cast they had. Some of the most talented actors and actresses I've ever seen. And one of them, he played Henry Higgins, he's really talented and he had the most wonderful Tenor voice.

We also did "Oklahoma" the year b4 that, which was really good as well, but I haven't seen it in quite a while.

I've seen "The Phantom of the Opera," "The Lion King," and "Mamma Mia" on Broadway, and Phantom is one of my favorites as well.

I also like Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Into the Woods, and a few more I can't remember.

I love My Fair Lady too.

I was in Oklahoma in high school as well as a HORRIBLE musical called "The Boyfriend". We did Little Shop of Horrors my senior year and it was the only play my entire high school career I didn't do. I was "done" with high school by then and decided not to do it. I've kicked myself ever since. I woulda been one of the singing girls. It would have kicked ass. pout

When I was in 8th grade, we took a field trip to go and see Cats and my friend started to cry when they started singing Memories. We laughed at her disbelief lol

falloff
I actually thought there was a storyline 2 it.

But that's what my parents said about "Good Vibrations"... a short-lived musical like "Mamma Mia", but with Beach Boys songs.
I thought that musical are good... but Mamma Mia was REALLY good biggrin

I heart Little Shop of Horrors! I was a Grease fan but my niece made me watch this every time she would come over so I'm kind of burnt out on it. I also really like Chicago and Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I agree... I've been to see quite a few myself. Haha, Phantom was a tearjerker for me cuz I didnt know how it was going to end. But I own the new version of the movie and love it. And its almost always a tearjerker.

I've seen Les Miserables on video in french class (it was in English though), but I dont think it was a musical version of it. But I thought it was really good.

"Hair" is one of my favorite films ever.

Yes, "Cats" is silly, but alot of the music is awesome. "Phantom" and "Les Mis" are probably my favorites, and I've seen them both multiple times. But it seems like they just SUCK now. And the last time I saw "Les Miz" and "Miss Saigon" they had added scenes and changed lyrics. confused

Has anyone seen "Grey Gardens"? I really wanted to see that before it closed. I hope it travels, or that release it to video. pray

I have resisted liking musicals. And still don't like most of them. Obvious classic movies I cannot deny, though. Sounds Of Music, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins.

And arent most classic Disney musicals? Then Jungle Book is one of my faves too.

You know what turned out to be great fun? MAMA MIA.

All my friends had been in the cast or orchestra at one point or another and I never saw the show, even after like, a 5 year theatre run confused (I'm such a crappy friend). But I finally went during the last week and it was great! A really charming story, and of course the music actually had you dancing at the end with the finale of "Dancing Queen" lol

Other than that I can honestly say I never met a musical I didn't like, except CATS lol
