neither is as bad as black dress socks w/ sandals.....

I don't like shorts period. Very few people can pull off shorts and look "good".

I don't really get the white after labor day thing. I'd totally forget it & wear whatever the fuck I wanted

& a long sleeve is acceptable with shorts IF the shirt is fairly thin, those are like wearing nothing. Plus your upper body will get cold before your lower body does, so I kinda understand it.

Long-sleeved shirt and shorts definitely doesn't have to be a bad combination (unless it's tucked in). In fact, I think it's much harder to find short-sleeved shirts that look good in various combinations. I'm not sure why, they often just look a bit silly to me, as if they're wannabe long-sleeved shirts that didn't quite qualify or something.
