help / advice needed

I know it's not the best place to look for help about this, but I gotta try any and every place I can find right now.

I'm looking for advice, maybe from personal experience, or just common sense.

I was wondering where people get strength in troubled times.
I'm now in a situation where I have almost 0 strength for myself, yet my mother needs all the support she can get right now. Both her father and husband are dying, and my only brother is away in Canada, so I'm the only close family sha's got left who might be able to help her go through this.
But then again, I've got my own problems supporting myself, financially and emotionally.
Where do people get the strength to survive?
Is the world really that cruel?

Somehow in troubled times we find the strength from somewhere. Have faith heavenly, you will get through this.

Take Care.

I'm sorry you are having a hard time.
Prayer can help.
You can go to church get support from the people there. You can talk to your minister or rabbi.
You can also talk to a professional like a pychologist or counselor or psychiatrist.

Heavenly

thank you all. it's hard for me to take God and a way for strength, since I'm a non believer.
I see how much strength people get from God, but I just can't lie to myself, and act as a believer, when I'm not.

I was thinking about a therapist / psychologist, but I can barely pay my bills...can't afford anything like that.

I hope things will change soon.

again, Thank you

Ariel

You can only do as much as you can. Don't accept guilt for not having "enough" during these tough times.

Also it can help to bottom out; that is, let yourself feel really bad at times without fighting it to sort of wash it out of your psyche.

And try to find the humor in it--make fun of your suffering. Exaggerated times call for sarcasm.

Prayers for you.
Fear is the mind-killer.

wellbeyond

Strength is only strength when it's being used...it's only when we need to "lift" something that we see how strong we truly are...Don't be afraid that you lack the inner and spiritual strength to deal with all that's in front of you, Heavenly...you may be amazingly surprised at just how strong you really are... heart...Also, as others have said, utilize the friends and loved ones who occupy your personal circle...and lastly, allow yourself to possibly connect with something "outside" yourself...it's often tiring to feel that you must shoulder everything completely alone...

"It's not the load you carry which wears you down, but how you carry it"...

Best wishes and prayers to you... smile rose

Many counseling centers have sliding scale fees, based on how much you're making or have as extra spending money.
If you have time, look in the phone book under counseling, clinics, or support groups who may be able to help you or even your mom. They will point you in the right direction even they can't help.
Your local church-even if you're not a member- may be able to help you out. Take care, Heavenly.

Heavenly, if you are not a believer of God, claim that your higher power (whoever/whatever that is) is guiding you to do the right the thing. You are here to serve and to give your talents to the world. You are living in a subjective and an objective world and should seek counseel and advice from someone you trust and who can aid you objectively to fulfill your needs in the present situation. It doesn't have to be a paid professional. Do what you have to do to the best of your ability and keep your mind fixed on the Infinite Intelligence within you. Stay true to your inner guidance and know that you will attain a harmonious solution.

Thank you all for your support and caring. it shows there's still good in this world.
I had a long chat with an org friend, and I thank her very much. I will do the best I can to follow her advice.

I truly believe that my calling in life is to make the people around me smile. I do my best to hide my sorrow around people, and to make them feel good. I never ask anything in return. seeing them happy gives me strength to keep on going.
I wish one day to find my own hapiness, with the one I love. until then, I will just have to keep on smiling, because I do believe it's contagious. And when people around me smile back, it makes a difference.

thank you all, you are all very kind.
I wish you the best in life.

I was taught God never gives u more than u can handle. sometimes it seems that way though...just take it day by day, do what u can and make sure u think of yourself too. if your health goes bad as it sometimes does in stressful situations, u cant b good to anyone, so care 4 yourself above all. try to maintain a positive attitude no matter how bad things are, remembering that things WILL get better, and your frame of mind will pull u through, as will God. but remember, he helps those that helps themselves. stay strong.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

Sweetheart you are loved so very much dear. Yes life does suck, but we all go through tough times. Trust me I have been through alot of them, and believe me when I say this. Things may look really bad right now, but in the end everything will be ok. Well all have to go through the shitty parts of life, to reach true happiness. Some things just take time and you have to take it day by day, but you will get through it I promise.

Therapy

Hello Heavenly.

Take care of you. As when you do, you will have more energy to give.

Little ways can make big differences in taking care of you. I believe that is the way to all healing. Counselling is a good way to take care of yourself. General self nuturing. Friends to share with. Courage to ask for help. Realising where the damaging words in your mind to your self worth come from. Encourage kind and loving words to yourself. Really *see* nature, be open to the beautiful healing. Give yourself time. Remove pressure.

When you're feeling down, doing something nice for someone who is also feeling down, will make you feel a whole lot better. Even something as simple as doing the dishes will help, or making a lovely dinner.

Your mother's obviously in need of your support right now, give it to her in abundance and you will find that you will become a lot stronger because of it. The more you ignore those that are closest to you, the weaker you will find yourself becoming.

Trust me, you will feel alot better when you see that you are genuinely helping someone else get through their hard times.

Something that always helped me get over my trying times I help others out to ease my mind. The problems that bothered me like everyone has said prayer helps, write out your problems and once you overcome them mark them off one at a time.
