iTunes is mot finding my songs-could use some advice I have my entire music library on an external hard drive, but iTunes is not able to find any of the songs there. I do not want to reimport them all if I don't have to (and I really do not want to have to find them one by one). I've tried under Edit:Preferences:Advanced:General to set the iTunes Music folder location to the hard drive Music folder directly, but that hasn't worked.
Any suggestions would be most welcome. thank you.

You could click on the file that all your music is in and drag it to iTunes or go to the Advanced tab and hit the key that says consolidate library.

Thanks for the suggestions, Lothan I tried dragging the files from the hard drive to iTunes, but it added them as new songs, it did not update the path from the originally downloaded songs. I saw the consolidate library function, but I assumed it would copy it all to the C: drive, not the external hard drive. I'm holding it as a later option.

maybe throw out itunes application and re dowload it? thanks, a friend & I talked about that and we figured that would delete any Playlists or history. I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
