PrintableThe past week I've been thinking about planning a trip for next September. I want to go to Spain, The Netherlands, and the U.K. I don't know how much time I'll have because of work but I feel like it's something I need to do. At least I'll have some time to save some money.
I don't mind traveling alone. I don't mind having someone with me either. The only thing is it has to be the right someone. I just can't travel with just anybody. I'm finding it very inspiring as well. And so gosh darn relatable. I'm already thinking about how I can travel for an extended period... cash in my 401k, live like a pauper for a year or two to save, etc. |

I just made aniversary with my job and own 100% of my 401K, and tentatively told my boss that I will be leaving in January sometime. I have been getting rid of all my material possesssions until I can whittle it down to what I can carry with me. First off I think I'll live in Vegas for awhile...after that, I haven't decided. I got this idea from a book called "Vagabonding" where you live in an area for a time before you move on. This way instead of doing just the tourist thing (point & shoot), you can come to have more appreciation for the peoples and cultures and absorb it. It does take careful planning because as you mentioned, it is a lot more dangerous for a woman who travels alone. If you need extra income in a foreign country, you can always teach "English", I remember websites about just this. I hope you find enjoyment in this! | |
