My Favorite Greasy Spoon THE MINI GOURMET is my favorite place to have breakfast. I go there once a week, usually on Sundays. It's open 24 hours a day and it's wonderful after a fun night out. It's not fancy at all but the service and the food is great. I'm a regular and it's nice to come in and the staff greets me and asks how I'm doing.
What and where is your favorite eatery/greasy spoon/guilty pleasure restaurant? MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits"

I kind of like that high concept hippie vegetarian breakfast place in Minneapolis, Stoopies or whatever it was called.
But I would say, Mimi's cafe is my favorite.

Once upon a time my friends and I ate almost every weekend at Sunny Side-Up. Best hangover breakfast in Mpls. It's maybe just a tiny notch above a greasy spoon, but sufficiently greasy all the same. They have the world's best french toast and their biscuits and gravy uses italian sausage and they throw poached eggs on top and a drizzle of hollandaise. They have scrambled eggs with cactus paddles and huevos rancheros and they have crazy "special" benedicts every week, sometimes with steak, once with lobster, they'll use a baguette instead of an english muffin and use fun flavored hollandaises and such. We'd get the "mafia" table and sit 10 or so of us around it and re-hash our previous night out.
We don't do it anymore, but I go there once or twice a year still and remember those crazy breakfasts. It was actually a group of staff that worked there that left and opened The Independent (where we had dinner Friday night, Miguel). |

What's a "greasy spoon"? Just a seedy restaurant?
Seeing that it was you that started the thread I figured it might be some kind of advanced sexual position. Spooning...with grease?

Dierk's Parkside Cafe. It's on the main strip in Santa Rosa, right next to three tattoo parlors. Their chorizo and eggs are so good that you want to shoot yourself in the goddamned head. Two other favorites: Country Benedict – a warm crispy baguette covered with scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, spinach, oven-dried tomatoes, hash browns and Hollandaise sauce Sonoma Duck Confit – with potato hash, scrambled eggs, toast, and warm apples Their house coffee is INCREDIBLE. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

It usually refers to a place that serves breakfasts, primarily. Best after a long night of drinking, etc. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

It's this mexican restaurant that is early 70s architecture all the way and says "Mexican and American food" out front. Can't even remember the name of it lol

This is my favorite place. It's back home in Scottsbluff Nebraska. It's the best drive in around...like the ones from the 50's and 60's. Has some of the best burgers, fries, fried mushrooms...and cinnamon cokes! Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

Yeah, it's basically a restaurant that may look a little run down but the food is great. Don't get me wrong this place is clean and all.
