what do you look for in a kids book(ages4-8)

is a plot important?

what DONT YOU LIKE in a kids book(cos its us that have 2 read em right?)

its been awhile but I would look for story lines with strong female characters and with multicultural themes. Syd's world was very diverse with her "aunts and uncles" being gay, white, Puerto Rican, black, etc.

I wanted books that reflected her world.

VERY hard to find though....

what kids seem to like: silly sounding words, repetition, interaction

and I personally, always look out for spaceships and aliens redface but's that's just cause I like them

When our children were younger - reading to them was not just at bedtime

we started reading outloud to them under a yrs age - anyway

everything - I had a case with over 200 childrens books though we would alsoread to the from magizines and what not

I was more into reading them info that was real life kinda stuff - thei big siblings would read to them all the fun fluff kid books
