Actually Louie was, my bad. Lestat was just hanging out there. He sensed Louie's desire to die. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Saw it this evening.
The folks I went with sat to my left and giggled cause they thought it was stupid. The lady to the right of me jumped every 5 minutes. I swear, if I had farted or cleared my throat she would have jumped Josh Hardon actually isn't half bad in this film. Dare I say, he made the film more tolerable. The story was ok, if rather b-movie-ish, and the vampires are pretty cool. And the sense of isolation in the town due to it's location is perfect--just as well done as "The Thing" and better than "Alien vs. Predator". But the directing isn't good. The choppy, almost music video sequences didn't work for me. **** SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT BELOW **** I did like the scene where one of the vampires jumps on top of the police SUV and is taking wacks at the roof of the car. Great scene. Overall, it wasn't really scary to me, and got a few chuckles out of the audience. There weren't any real "jumps" that got the audience but like maybe 3 scenes, thought he lady next to me almost had a heart attack--so I guess to each their own. It's a great date movie if you're young though. The final scene was sappy and dumb as hell. Then again, the last 30 minutes were stupid to me.

This movie wasn't that great. The only thing I liked was that it had a lot of gore in it. I love blood and guts films. But the story line was corny as hell..and so predictable. C'mon there must be a million of films out there where you start off with a group of people willing to fight back, then they all get killed off one by one until the leader saves the day at the end only to sacrifice his life for everybody else. Talk about cheesy.... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Warning: my simple man's review kind of contains spoilers...
First i had really high expectations upon first preview, then i read some reviews in advance and then was let down without expecting that much going in, but then it was much better than i thought it was going to be! did that make any sense? AWESOME movie! I loved it!! of course it's not ppppperfect! like the transition of days, jumping from 7 to 18 to 27 without any obvious change whatsoever in plot, event, as if no time passed whatsoever was pretty badly done. it all seemed like real time more or less, and what the heck were these vampires doing for 10 odd days while the last humans were holed up? weren't they going through the houses, etc one by one. those quick bastards coulda done a full sweep of the premises in a day! there were other problems of course... but damn, people, this movie was great!! the aesthetic, the mood, the vibe, the setting, the premise, the style, the gore, the vampires, the violence (its a horror movie, so...) vampire language was cool too. starts off like The Thing, Gets kinda like 28 days/weeks later, then gets like Night of the Living Dead, then gets like Hellraiser, (the vampires kinda give of this vibe in their look, in their musings, and when taunting the feeble living humans). I coulda done without the vampire that looked like Marilyn Manson though, but I thought it was a hell of a ride, a great new take on vampires. They just kind of invade, the hell with long seductions, the just want to rip you apart, and feast. I though the lack of a background story, and a grand narrative for it all would take away from it, but i actually thought this "here they invade from outta nowhere, from on yonder" approach was part of the feel. essential to the cosmology of its horror. kinda gnostic And dang if i say so, but Josh Harnett did damn good, and so did Ben Foster, especially! . I was gonna watch this online last night but I chickened out.
I need a cute boy to watch it with so I can cuddle up to him during the scary parts and then have a serious make out session after it's done to forget all about how scared I was.

It was pretty much like the novel - sucky.
At the beginning Josh Hartnett was delivering his lines like Barry from Resident Evil and I was LOLing.

I liked some of it. I thought it was good NOT great.
Yes, I agree on the part where the Vampire is on the roof of the car punching the roof. I really liked the fact that the vampires acted more like animals. There was no semblence of humanity to them. I loved the fact the lead spoke with a very Mayan Indian or American Indian type language. Very cool and very intruiging. It made me question their ancestry. I thought the language of the other vampires was pretty cool. The shrieking got on my nerves but it was effective. This is picky but I wish that they had used the take from trailer for the part where the lead vampire said "No God.." It seemed less effective for me. Maybe it was the same take but it seemed less dramatic. Hiin!!! I totally did not believe the passing of time either. It felt like one long night instead of 30 nights. The little vampire rocked!!!! ...oh yeah Josh Hartnet's friend in the movie.....HOT!!!! [Edited 10/22/07 23:45pm] MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! I saw it. I thought it was mostly good!!! America's political system used to be about the "pursuit of happiness." Now more and more of us want to stop chasing it and have it delivered.

Never read 'em myself, but I've only ever heard two substantive negative critiques of the book series: One had mostly to do with art that is sometimes so abstract, chaotic and blood-soaked that you can't quite discern what's going on. Another comment was that the resolution of the original story arch was a bit too "easy." I've heard the helter skelter look of the books will be tapped for the film, but hopefully they'll remedy any plot let-downs. I agree with that to some extent, about the book series. I'll also add that the art is somewhat "ragged", which is probably why some people find it chaotic. I did as well in the beginning but if you stick with it you get used to it.
