Burglars Move Into Woman's Home

DECATUR, Ala. -- Kim Ledford says she returned to her home to Decatur after an extended absence to find a strange man in her bed and a woman wearing her clothes. Then another man walked up to question why Ledford was in his house.

Once police sorted things out, two people were charged with burglary -- 45-year-old Kelly Jo Moore and 29-year-old Cornelius Goode. The man in the bed was not immediately identified or charged.

Decatur police spokesman Lt. Frank DeButy says Moore, who had on Ledford's clothes, told the homeowner when confronted that she would leave if it was causing a problem.

DeButy says Goode claimed to be the owner of the residence, but DeButy says he is not the owner. It's unclear how long the intruders had been living in the house.

During a search of Moore, DeButy says police found drug paraphernalia. She also was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.

Moore and Goode are currently living in the Morgan County Jail.

i'm really glad that the woman wasnt assaulted in any way when she found them in her home. this could have easily turned bad.


i find it hilarious that one of the dudes tried to claim that it was his house and asked her who she was when she came in.

Dang! How long was that extended absence, she didn't have a neighbor or relative checking on the house. I couldn't sleep soundly in that home after that....oh well, time for her to get a new bed and some clothes
