People have been calling me a preacher for most of my life -- friends, family, even total strangers.

Made me mad, until I stopped running.

Dude, if you only knew the whole story. Before accepting it, since accepting it...

The stuff folks have said to me.

It used to bother me that people were always trying to figure me out or that they thought they had me figured out. Now, I walk around with psychological monkey wrenches and often smack folks upside their heads with them.

It's so much more fun....for me at least.

You know, you do look like you could be your bishop's nephew or something. You even look like you could be your bishop's bishop's nephew. lol

Now when are we hitting up a Bible study? I've had my head buried in The Complete Idiot's Guide to the life of Christ for the past 3 months.

Its a running joke with me and a friend about how I'm always called "Queen". This happened on some level even before the locs. I had volunteers who were "afraid" to talk to me eek. I've been told I have a "presence".

This just goes back to that thread about being self-aware.

do people treat you odd or "different" and you are like WTH?

Join the club. smile

I've been called "Queen" since forever, and it unfortunately rhymes with my first name.

And I've been told I am terribly intimidating. I have no idea why. confuse

lol Why don't we shoot for next week's evening one?

As for resemblances, I was forced to portray my bishop in a ministry skit, a year or two back. Folks laughed at my impression of him. Some folks who act like they really want to be him scare me.

I used to be intimidated by you at one time. I'm not quite sure why. I imagine I probably said something flippant and stupid in the forums back in the day and you likely thought little of it. Anyway, I think I thought I'd been misunderstood or something and had rubbed you up the wrong way. I'd like to think that now I rub you the right way. I mean, rub you up. I mean, oh God. boxed

In high school i was treated different. wasn't the "typical" black teen in the 90s . it just made me shy. now i think people just view me as very shy (or stuck-up) until they really get to know me. Some people have even told me they were afraid of me at first-i don't know why falloff when i meet people i vibe with really well i tend to loosen up.

Everything you just said is SO my story too nod
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

nod I can see that in you, too.

You also give off a certain regal air... even online. You used to intimidate me, too -- too smart and gorgeous for your own good with a take-no-crap attitude to match.

ohgoon ...Then, of course, I find out you're just a big pussy cat aesthete.

And right you are, my friend - about the aesthete part. smile

You, for your part, are regal, but far more patient than I, breaking things down for everyone here whereas I have the tendency to get fed up and answer in two or three lines. lol

I have, however, decided against the doctorate for the time being in favor of pursuing my music to its max. But I am preparing some articles (I hope) for publication, now that the master's under my belt. Good fun.
