The Dirty Secrets Of Your Trade As you may all be aware, I'm going to be a teacher. A profession which seems to be wrought with scandal. I'm currently reading a book which explores the hidden secrets of the world we live in when we apply ecomic and statistical data. It would appear that in higher stakes education there is a great deal of cheating when it comes to marking student papers.
What about your trade? There's Joy In Expatriation.

In my old job we used to waste LOADS of tax-payers money "jazzing-up" business plans can you imagine, our department charged the others $75 per hour, for about 25 hours of making an internal document (circulation of about 20) look pretty.

There are a few "tricks" to marking large numbers of papers, but I don't subscribe to the "I know an A when i see it" school of marking.
Scandel....how much fucking money universities make that the students never see turned to benefit their education. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

As an individual that has worked in the arena of entertainment (radio, music), I know that all of you know of the dirt that is already out there.
As minor my role was...I saw a lot. I had a boss that was on blow...talk about a moody man. He also got pretty high in a limo with a recording artist outside of the station, in the station parking lot. Well...entertainment is an excuse to not grow up, and that's what it is. It's a lot of flash and it doesn't pay worth a damn...seriously, unless you are top execs. And yeah, payola is out there too. Oh yeah, you will never have random drug tests in this business

My sister is in healthcare, and it is depressing all the things she tells me. It's so bottom line in that field and they are playing with people's lives

Occasionally I work with a private investigator. I see lots of dirty secrets. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

I manage other peoples' wealth. If you try a dirty trick with their money, you will be and should be drummed out of the industry.
Honesty is the only policy that works in this business. And now that I think of it, this may be one of the only businesses in which I could confidently say that.

Working in a blood bank is so incricately monitored by the FDA (foreigners: Food and Drug Administration) and AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) that we obviously don't have the option to mess around. That's not saying there aren't illnesses and deaths that occur due to blood product transfusions, but it's a known risk and waivers are obviously signed, as far as I know.
There are additional things I could say here, but there's no way I'm saying them. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I work for a lawyer. what always surprises me and angers me is the fact that clients confidentual information, is passed along from desk to desk to desk for all to see. I would hate to see all my worldy problems spread out in black and white for all the office riff raff to look at and gawk.

'nuff said Federal, state or municipal? I work for a Federal organization. It's all about wasting money and time. I used to try to be efficient and pro-active, but when I found out it won't get me a salary increase I said, "Fuck it" and embraced mediocrity. That's why federal employees often do only the bare minimum they have to--because it doesn't matter if you get 'outstanding' or 'sufficient' on your performance reviews, you don't get a raise--so why bust your ass?
