VIRGINITY and SEXUAL DEVIANCY... serious responses only. And i'm asking for SERIOUS answers...once i see the thread getting out of hand i'll ask the mods to shut it down.
so for those of you that pay attention to my threads, i'm currently working on a body of work concerning female sexuality ranging from virginity to sexual deviancy. i have A LOT of images/ideas/ideals of sexual deviancy, i feel that i'll be able to illustrate that quite easily... but virginity - i'm having trouble... i need to somehow illustrate virginity in different ways... i've come up with crosses, the crescent moon and star (islam), words like "abstinence" and "chastity" however, as a virgin myself, i have NO clue how better to explain the side of sexuality i'm most related to... i have bouts of sexual deviancy in the sense of masturbation and the likes, but when i sit and REALLY think about virginity, i seem to draw a blank.. So this is where you come in... i need your help on images of virginity, and some sexual deviancy if you can't think of anything for the former... please, i'm asking that there only be serious posts - a lot to ask for of the org  i know but please, just help.[...i think i can, i think i can, i think i can...] | |

How about exploring virginity from strict religious definitions? Like dress codes or time periods where public expression of virginity was encouraged. you're very right...and it was a direction i was heading in but i need more than religion eventhough, really when i step back and look at the BIG picture of sexuality, especially where the feminine is concerned, it is all based on religion... see... i'll have to take pictures of my painting (number one) to show you how i plan on incorporating it all in.. this one that im just taking a break from right now, is dealing with the virgin side...and the way i chose to show it is that the ideals and essences of virginity will be eminating from her womb/vagina/whathaveyou, it's not a visible depiction but it's obvious..i'll be back in a few minutes with pictures. OK so this is the painting so far, just took a quick snapshot from my workstation...
the white cloud will be filled with elements of virginity... i just thought of wedding rings and the likes as well as i was uploading the picture... but symbols of virginity is what i'm going for on this one painting...there'll be abother just like this only opposite for sexual deviancy... OK, I don't want to interfere with the creative process but since you are focusing on sexuality, maybe you could refocus the point at which that white cloud begins, aka pointed down towards the vagina.....instead of across the hips? I think that would be more effective in casting the various images to do with virginity and sexuality in general 
OR.....[/i] since this is focused on virginity, maybe it's more appropriate that it swath across the hips as a veil of sorts and the one about sexual expression eminates from the vagina... Just talkin here

it's going to have to work i have to start on the 2nd out of 5 anyway, in the same manner i dont want to be too explicit about the vagina because it's heavily implied anyway once the symbols come into play and these are paintings i want my parents to be able to see when/if i get a show. 2 of them are due on the 17th and to be honest i feel like crying... i dont know if i can really be the artist they're trying to manufacture in this art school... I'm not saying paint a full vagina, just that the cloud should clearly eminate from that area instead of to the side like it does. But I'm only offering a suggestion and in no way am saying that the way it is now is not artistically correct!

well i am afterall getting a better look at the painting and the proportions have been taken from a photograph, so where the starting point is, is actually pretty accurate, its just because its on such a large scale it does look off... but once i start with the symbols i should be good to go... im going to keep on with the painting, i'll be back later... An un-bloomed (sp?) white flower standing alone in a field of untouched snow...cliche, but it works lol,,,
A bright red cherry lol... Nature scene untouched by man... A dark skinned female standing serenely in a vast desert... Perfectly still water in a white bowl on an all-white table (or a black bowl on an all-black table)... I'm just throwin' out shit lol ...[Edited 10/8/07 12:19pm] | |
