OK, we're sorry for Celine Dion—but is she really worse than the trash that comes out of the US, come on, LOL

I'm not sure I understand your point that Canadians are too nice, are you referring to the stereotypical idea that Canadians are very polite based on TV spoofs from shows like "That 70's Show" or "The Simpsons"?

I've been living in Philadelphia for over 2 years now and wonder why people are so cruel and violent. The people I work with are great, but society as a whole is screwed up, people shoot one another over pocket change, etc... its ridiculous. My boss, his brother and another were gunned down at the office one evening over money. I'll be going back to Canada in the near future to live a healthier lifestyle.

Actually, it was a bit of a shock when I moved here, but I don't find Torontonians particularly nice.

Now once they've established "business" with you, they're on you like a doting grandma lol, but initially folk are pretty darned standoffish here. I find New Yorkers to be nicer from the onset.

...Maybe Canadians pick up that I'm American and treat me accordingly. shrug

A Canadian who shall remain nameless just asked me to explain the phenomenon of dropping it like it's hot.

hmmm ok then someone must explain how come Canadians, out of EVERYBODY, have this worldwide reputation of being uber nice.

It's not that we're really all that special. We don't have dibs on niceness or manners, and there are douchebags aplenty no matter where you go in Canada. It's just that so much of the rest of the world behaves like louts it makes us look fucking great in comparison.

Take the US, for example. Anytime I've been down there, for the most part people weren't any more rude or assholeish than we Canucks are. BUT -you guys have no concept of how to use your indoor voices, and nobody has any patience for anything. You're not a rude people, but you do have a way of making us look good. Thanks. thumbs up!

The Canadians I've met have on the whole been lovely people. There was one dodgy guy though that I met in Vietnam. He was a former drug dealer and had been shot in a bar brawl. When I asked him what his name was he laughed and said, 'Peter Pan'.
