i do understand if it comes across awkward to you as you are a Canadian and would definitely know more about it.

it's just weird how you guys got that reputation almost everywhere in the world.

Canadian's always linked with nice.

any explanation?

Are the differences between the USA and Canada really that big ? Speaking as a non-American, I really don´t find the cultures that different at all, especially when you consider that there are so many Canadian artists in the USA who have become icons , or at least essential parts of US pop culture, and most foreigners wouldn´t even know that those people are actually Canadians ( Michael J. Fox, John Candy, Pamela Anderson, Tommy Chong, or even sports...like basketball etc . etc. )

Even the language doesn´t sound that different, at least people from BC sound a lot like US-Americans.

you should talk to folks living on the east coast lol

but really, there isn't much of a difference between us, but i do feel that canadians aren't to quick to be ignorant or anything like that
but i only say this from past experiences being in the states, so it could be totally different than i perceived.

it wasn't until I visited the states, I realized everyone was so nice here. I used to get annoyed with salespeople who were being overly helpful, or were genuinely happy to help me getting a fitting room and give advice, but when I went to a mall in new jersey and walmart, the salepeople looked so annoyed and were staring at me funny when I was being friendly. I guess they knew I was from Canada, or some tourist

the USA is more like a melting pot, while in Canada, everyone's cultures are embraced and they're encouraged to embrace whatever their heritage is. At least, that's how it is in Toronto.

people in Quebec are rude to you if you don't speak French, but the nightlife there kicks ass, and is so much more exciting and elegant looking than Toronto

Yeah I heard about that,I once recorded a documentary on TV about exactly that topic, about Toronto and its immigration policy etc., and they said exactly what you said. And they showed a supermarket and its owner and how he helps people to integrate .
I also feel that most of the Canadians are very nice and polite people, and they seem to be genuinely interested in different cultures.

But : I could say the same about Minnesota....I was VERY positively surprised the last time I stayed there. The people were extremely nice and helpful. Then again, it is Minnesota...a very special place. wink
