I do like it, but I don't go crazy over it. It's nice on certain occasions. You can't beat a good cavair (but not the crazy good stuff) with some sour cream on a blini with cocktails. But equally good are salmon caviar which I sometimes even cook with (they can be a little salty). It is generally extreamly "fishy" I think thats what puts most of it (and the price). But just like anything with a range of products from steak, through wine and caviar. You really need to experience the best to know what all the fuss is about. I had Beluga caviar once and it was fantastic, but again it was probably the ocasion etc Not that i can even recall exactly where I was!
Its good fun to buy some cheap stuff and play with it for dinner parties, Avruga technically not caviar, from the herring (would you belive) is actually pretty nice, and acording to some "better" than beluga!! But don't be put of the real thing, you can get small tins for around £20, I think it works out at about £2 a gram so perhaps £5 for a blini mouthfull! Worth doing at least once before you die, £5 quid is not even two beers!! Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard! | |
