Aha! I've had kangaroo. Nope, I was fascinated by pickled onions in chippies when I was a little boy but I've never had one. I might go out and buy one later.

Nah, don't get one of the big ones, get a jar of little ones, they're nicer. Although I prefer beetroot, goes down a treat with cheese! biggrin

All great foods! Although pheasant is not that great. Snails are fantastic!! I always have them when I see them on a menu.

A lot of this food is perceived to be fancy and its not really. Most supermarkets stock almost anything you could imagine. Try a few "exotics" bought in this way instead of going out for dinner, it is often cheaper!!

I have tried most foods I think, and always say that I will try anything once cus you are dead a long time. A couple of unusual food that are still on my list

Dog
Foogoo

But there are loads of veggies that I have never tried, or probably even heard of!

Basically Pufferfish Sushi, toxic unless the chef knows what he is doing they have to have special licences to serve it in Japan. Kind of a macho obsession but when I saw a documentary on it, I became intrigued and now won't be happy until I have had it pout

I was gonna ask if you had some good food storeia from your travels. I am sure dog's not great but it's still on the list. Monkey brains is too, just because it is food and I haven't tried it. Although, eating any neurological tissue worries me a bit.

I never saw monkey brains on sale. I did have locusts in Thailand too which were just like crisps really.

Was this thread inspired by our little talk yesterday? lol

Like I said then I love fancy food, so it's just too bad that I can't afford it. I make sure I buy foie gras every time I go to France though, since that's where the quality is the best and it's a bit less expensive.

It's really interesting that fancy food like the above is expensive mostly because it's rare or difficult and costly to produce, but could just as well have been expensive simply because it's so delicious (people would be ready to pay a lot for it just for that reason). I guess we'll just have to accept that as with so many other things in the world, rarity and quality go hand in hand.
